That’s true, but this guy didn’t go through the effort of buying a gun illegally.

I wouldn’t be surprised. But if security let a guy carrying a 30-06 into a club, there’s more than one issue going on here.

We’re talking a handgun in this case, which does require a waiting period. But, I do know some states, including Virgina, where I live, have a “Gun Show” loophole, which need to be closed up.

But again if you have a clean criminal record, nothing can stop you.

Who knows what it’s going to take to tighten up gun rules here. And now ,with Terrorism on top of the normal everyday criminals, which scare the hell of people, the gun lobby is stronger than ever because millions think they need a gun to protect themselves since the gov’t does such a crap of job.

So far, I don’t think they’ve said anything about whether he bought the gun recently or not. He was a former Marine for 2 years, so it’s possible he had training and a gun of his own before that time, possibly before he developed his mental problem.

No, the gun control issue here in the U.S. isn’t perfect and it’s probably never going to change, but what country is perfect?

And it works. Plus the right to bear arms is in the Constitution so it’s tough to mess with. It would take a 2/3rds vote from both houses of congress and every state to get it changed.
