The other week went to a Battle Of The Bands at a local school, cus one of my friends was doing a solo acoustic set. There were five acts on. The first, Optima, wer pretty good, the lead singer had an unusual voice, but good. Then there was The Raw who did 4 Green Day covers and two originals that sounded like Green Day… (I hate Green Day…) Then my friend was on, he was good, normally not into acoustic stuff, but I was impressed. But the last two bands… eugh. ‘Alcoholocaust’. With a name like that, they must be good, right? WRONG. Sum 41, Blink 182 and Green Day covers… a guitarist I could happily have smacked and a total lack of good tunes. Finally, Poison Lipnick were on. 2 Jet cover versions, more Green Day and Sum 41… and a lead singer who sounded bored out of his mind. Seriously, he made the Lighthouse Family sound exciting. They had one good guitarist, otherwise they were all shit. AND THEY WON! Fucking hell, that was awful. I ended up seeing them again at the Vic Inn in Derby the other day, they were even worse. Seriously, I wasn’t expecting something great from them, but none of them had a single original song of note or chose any good songs to cover. I don’t mind them doing covers as long as they’re obscure, at least then they can be new to you, and if you do well known songs, at least make them sound different, but no, instead it was like a 13 year old casual music fan’s mix tape. I’ve seen the music of the future, and it’s fucking awful.
Seriously, this has motivated me to get my band into gear quicker just so I can rest assured there’s one band who doesn’t do Green Day covers.

Day Six, or Day Sucks as I call them.
It’s not that they don’t know how to play their instruments, it’s just that they have an annoying singer/gitarist who looks like some Di-rectum reject, and the songs feature shitty spoken parts (some lame scifi/cyber wank) and are generally a load of arsetwaddle. Or to be more precise, 2 minutes worth of arse, stretched to 8 minutes of aaarssseeetwaddle.
On closing I shall be kind to them, and applaud on not having that shitty dancing troupe on stage doing, well, something last time I had the misfortune and moments of intense suffering I saw them.*

Jet & Arckid at Hyde Park Calling.
Jet had no energy & were’nt putting any into the crowd.
Arckid didn’t really give the sense that they’d actually played together ever before.

This thread wouldn’t even exist if anyone except me had seen the awfulness that was ‘Bingo’. I have never ever hated a gig so much in my life - I was just about to walk out and miss the headline act because I couldn’t stand it any longer when they announced that it was their last song and everyone cheered! :D
edit: Them and ‘Toast’, who sounded ok but turned out to be nazi twats so as soon as they started talking they got booed off the stage :)

…I really can’t carry that off can I? I think he’s a cunt too.
I’ll tell you who the worst live band ever is though
Funeral For A Friend - I really like both their first 2 albums, I haven’t heard the third yet but every time I see them live they are SHIT!

I like their albums and think they suck live too. Saw em at Download last year and it was pretty boring.

This doesn’t imply they’re the worst livebands ever but I tend to leave bad gigs much earlier and forget about it.
