Download 2005

Does anyone know of any rumoured acts…?

This might also be a good area to mention which bands you think are worthy to appear this time round.

Oh and did anyone see last years footage on TV recently?

Download 2004 was the most disorganised gig I have ever had the misfortune to waste money on…

Forget the acts (Slayer, Slipknot, Metallica - All bands I wanted to see, so I ain’t complaining), there is a HELL of a lot more to a good show than simply booking the right bands.

The sound was ropey at best, the car park badly lit, unmarked and unmanned at closing time (so it took many people a long time just to find their damn car in the dark and most of us FOUR HOURS just to get out)
People had to queue several hours just to get IN on the first day for camping etc.

If my experience is anything to go on( and many, many others said much the same on various websites), all I can say is, if you like a good rock show, AVOID DOWNLOAD AT ALL COSTS

..but in the spirit of not wanting to ruin a poor guy’s thread:

Headline = AC/DC
Other bands = Motorhead, Slayer (on main stage this time), Velvet Revolver (don’t like them myself, but would be a good crowd pleaser)…um…ummm Oh yeah, Therapy? of course. Extra long set from T? featuring songs from all of their albums and a half-hour covers mini-set in one of the side tents too.
Aerosmith would be good to get over here too..

Well, that’s my wish list then…bit short I guess but most of my fave rock acts are now dead or defunct…oops!

I have to agree - they better sort the place out this year or they can fuck off…
It took us queueing from about 1pm till 7pm carrying all our stuff to get in… How a riot didnt break out I will never know… (probably only becasue everyone was carrying all their stuff as well!)

I heard System of A Down were doing one night, with Judas Priest and/or AC/DC tipped for the next night.

I also heard a Motley Crue rumour. There is also a Black Sabbath rumour.

I heard that it might also be on for 3 days with the friday as an indie day with Feeder headlining.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Kittie. They’ve been quite silent as of late. And I enjoyed the last album.

Oh and that band that plays in a garden for a family in the food advert on TV - hehehehe!

Just been having a look at that now

I am considering going but they will have to get some seriously good bands on the bill - I am already going to see System of a Down on their tour and the only other band on there that I really wanna see is Velvet Revolver.

I have seen Black Sabbath two or three times, I have seen Slipknot twice, Slayer more times than I care to remember. I have also seen Feeder and am not in any rush to see them again.

They should do what they did with the US Ozzfest and have votes for what bands you’d like to see on the bill.

Megadeth will be there too, however it will be their last UK gig ever ???:

“Megadeth are set to storm this year’s Download festival - but have stunned fans by revealing it will be their last UK gig ever.

Veteran rockers Megadeth have revealed they have no plans to tour Europe after completing their forthcoming string of European festival dates, however, they say they can’t wait to perform their UK swansong at Download. Original front man Dave Mustaine will be joined by Glen Drover (guitar), James MacDonough (bass) and Shawn Drover (drums).”
