Ronaldo is a good player when he wants to be, but he can also quite equally be the cause of a teams downfall.

He has only really shined when facing lower opposition in my books, but when it comes to the big games he tries his showboating, fails, goes into a strop and then does his best to get sent off.

Think about the Champs League Final or when they faced Liverpool at Old Trafford - he didn’t look like the Player of the Year in either game (it made me chuckle the most when it took him 2 minutes to huff and pose before blasting each free kick wide or into the stands).

Surely a great player, but not a team player and seriously overhyped in my opinon (He is not worth more than Zidane!)

Will be interesting to see who is replacement is. As for Tevez, wouldn’t be to sure that he is staying at Man U…

Exactly. Good as he may be, Ronaldo is no Zidane. Zidane was also vaguely likeable as a human being…

Let the beach-ball mockery commence…

Fucking great. We get France of course, the strongest of the 8 teams. We were also the only “2nd seed” (what crap!) team to be drawn away in the second leg. Another shitty Ireland-less World Cup awaits…

Why the fuck is there seeding anyway? Everyone finished in 2nd place for fucks sake. Lets see how many refereeing decisions we get in Paris, ha, with Platini calling all the shots.

I’m not happy.

If New Zealand beat Bahrain, they’ll be at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, we have to deal with the current champions (Italy) and runners-up (France). Not to mention Bulgaria, who would tear the Kiwi’s a new arsehole if they played them.

How is this fair?

Maybe next time we should do an Australia and ask to play in the Asian or Concacaf qualifying section? We might have a hope then!

Oh Come on Alan,Ireland has chances : As I let it suppose,we have as coach, The most incompetent one :our good odd Raymond :D .He got in his hands some of the most talented Players in Europe, who have been playing currently for the greatest teams ( Benzema,Henry,Ribery,Gourcuff…) and he’s not able to make them play together on the right way…And the major default of this team’s been having for years is to defend on free kicks and corners…I bet that a such experiment coach as “le Trapp’” has alredy noticed that…But don’t get me wrong : I’ll be happy if we may qualify for the world cup,but we’d have to bear Domenech and his arrogance for 8 months at least…

The problem with the current Irish set up is that we have no central midfield - Whealan and Gibson are invisible at best.

We have to good ones, but one will never play for Ireland again (Stephen Ireland) and the other just seems like he will never be picked by Trap (Andy Reid).

If we had those two I would put us in with a chance.

FIFA’s changing of the rules to protect advertising revenue is disgusting. Bloody shameful.

France should also be embarrassed with the way they ended up qualifying, not just the handball that led to the goal, but the fact that a team with that many good players were so terrible over so many games. I wouldn’t be proud to be a French football fan, and they are going to get royally shagged at the World Cup next year if they keep Domenech (the prick).

I was ill on Sunday night/ Monday morning and in a desperate bid to kill the endless hours of sitting in bed trying not to vomit, I endured what the Americans call a “football game”, i.e. that one with the helmets and the 1980’s Dynasty shoulder pads and the stopping every two f*cking seconds to measure how far they have managed to throw the damn ball. No wonder the games last for about four hours. There’s about 20 mins of actual play in that time.

I shall never ever ever complain at being bored by a proper (i.e. soccer) football match again
