I watching a Spanish music station on Paddy’s day and they were promoting their Irish top 20 of all time programme. I didn’t see the chart itself (I saw it on the TV at the gym, I’m too poor to have digital at home), but the ad was pretty cool! It was just a 30 second ad on once every 1/2hr or so.
Basically it was a few clips of old irish guys with pints Guinness and some footage of a parade followed by a quick montage of the best of Ireland. Now you’d expect U2 (of course), The Cranberries (massive in Spain), The Corrs (saucy) and some of the boyband shite to be the bands featured to promote the programme.
Well imagine my surprise when after a quick appearence by Westlife and The Corrs I saw Mr AJ Cairns staring out of the screen. I was very impressed, especially as this ad was being shown around the clock all through Paddy’s week.
