My mum was a bit unnerved by the dummies as she remembers them the first time round and having nightmares. I thought it was good but a bit rushed at the end.

I watched it last night and i have to say it was very good and Christopher Ecclestone might just turn out to be the best Doctor.I’m shocked the BBC have spent more than a tenner on the special effects.I can’t wait for the Daleks,i think the dummies from last nights episode were called Autons. When i first read about Billie Piper playing the Doctors assistant i thought she would be awful but on the strenght of the first episode i think shes a good actress.I like the mix of humour and action.Christopher Eccleston was on the Jonathon Ross show on Friday night and they showed clips from lots of future episodes and i think the series will just get better and better. The Doctor seems to be scared of the Daleks and Simon Pegg and Richard Wilson guest star in future episodes.

I was impressed. Managed to look not bad but still retain the cheesiness that should always remain at the heart of doctor who.

The reason i know they were called Autons is because way back in 1993 or 1994 i got some Doctor Who videos as birthday presents and one of them was called Terror Of The Autons because i don’t think in the first episode of the new series the dummies were named.I have this week off so i’ll probably end up watching them all for the first time in years.
The BBC seem to want a ratings war because they’ve scheduled Doctor Who against Ant and Dec,i don’t know what the ratings were for saturday night but it might be a silly move putting Who up against those two.Back in 1989 they scheduled Who against Corination Street and it killed the show.

Doctor Who got over 10 million viewers, and 43% of the audience share. Ant And Dec got less than 40%

Terror of the Autons? I haven’t seen that one :( I’d like to see that: where else can you see a man attacked by a daffodil, and killed by a sentient chair? :)

Terror Of The Autons is an old Doctor Who from 1971 starring Sean Pertwee,The Master is in it as well. Its funny how many people i know that are coming out of the closet as Doctor Who fans after watching the new episode.I’m glad it beat Ant and Dec in the ratings i hope it keeps beating them.

Oh, and I was never in the closet; it’s just not something that comes up in polite conversation. ;)

I’ll probably buy the new series boxset depending on how good the rest of the episodes are and what my funds are like at the time.I told my friend about play she says they’re around that price in MVC.

I watched Terror Of The Autons last night and the bit where the guy gets killed by the chair is very silly but good fun.

They’ve apparently commisioned a second series and a christmas special based on the ratings success of the first episode. Seems a bit premature: the rest of them might be crap. Still, _probably_ good news, anyway. :)

Though it IS annoying. On the other hand, I kind of expected it. That means there’s been three ninth Doctors, now. It’s obviously a curse.
