Can’t you just record it?

Well, with a bit of luck, they’ll still be doing torrents for it (though the BBC are apparently cracking down).

I’ve only seen the first episode of the series, has the rest been good because I enjoyed the first episode but felt the end of it was a bit rushed

Does anyone know if it is still pulling in the ratings?

Misanthropologist (d) wrote:

Yeah, it’s been pulling the ratings, and it’s been (more or less) improving as it goes. Certainly from the first story, anyway. Last episode got about 7.5 million viewers which is apparrently 42% of the audience shares. That a preliminary figure and, for the other episodes, the final figure has actually been higher.

There’s still been a couple of times when the ending seemed a little rushed, but I really don’t think anything as severe as the first episode or two.

EDIT: ‘improving as it goes’ was addressed to White Psycho, I think the Ratings themselves have been pretty much constant (after a dip from the first episode)

Yeah the ratings have been good beating anything ITV has on at the same time,ITV had a new reality show called Celebrity Wrestling and Doctor Who beat it every week and now it’s been cancelled haha.
Doctor Who is on half an hour earlier this week it starts at 6:30!

I’ve heard some nasty-sounding rumours about the second-to-last episode. They may not be true, and they may not actually be bad if they ARE true. But it makes me nervous nonetheless. I won’t go into details, though.

Have you seen the current update on the official site, though? With the sound on that’s pretty freaky.
Apparently there’s a bit in the next story that’s been censored, too. Something about the sound of someone’s skull cracking open. Nice. :)

I’ve not seen the update yet but i had a go at that Dalek game about a week ago it was alright but the movement controls were a bit awkward.

Yeah, that game was a bit of a laugh, but not much more. I did finish it, though, so it can’t have been that bad. :D

Have you seen that they’re putting the Star Wars films on ITV, starting at about 5, I think. Not sure how much difference that will make, since I think they were all shown a little while ago anyway. *shrugs*

I missed the bit before the titles (then watched back on video afterwards ;))
I’m reserving judgement on this one until part two, but it was certainly atmospheric. And creepy.

‘It’s Mauve alert. The worst type there is.’
‘what about red alert?’
‘Only humans use red alert. Everyone else thinks it’s a bit.. camp.’

Unfortunately due to a family emergency last night i only saw the first ten mins of Doctor Who and spent the rest of the evening in casualty so i didn’t get to see the new Star Wars movie either :( but fuck it somethings are more important.
From what i saw it looked like it was going to be a great episode.Oh well this just gives me another reason to buy the boxset in November.

As I said, I’m reserving judgement, but only really because there were lots of unanswered questions. It’s certainly promising to be a good story, though.
You can probably get a torrent of the episode in a day or so. Unless the BBC fulfill their promise to crack down on that kind of thing.

Last nights episode was the 8th wasn’t it?

Doctor Who bosses have been hit by a new bombshell - Billie Piper is quitting the hit TV show.

The 22-year-old blonde, who plays the Timelord’s sidekick Rose Tyler, may appear in only three episodes of the second series, according to reports.

The news comes just weeks after Christopher Eccleston announced he was standing down as Doctor Who once the current series ends.

A BBC insider told The Sun: “Billie will feature in some episodes of the second series. But her character, Rose, won’t be the Doctor Who companion at the end of it.

“It’s a nine-month, hard slog of filming. Chris and Billie were knackered.

“Billie’s really proved herself as an actress in Doctor Who and she’s been bombarded with offers of work both in England and in America.”

The paper quotes a BBC source as saying: “No decision has been made about how many episodes she will be in, but it looks likely she will come in and out.”

Filming of the new series, with David Tennant as the Doctor, starts in July.

I don’t know why the papers are making such a big deal about Billie leaving because the Doctor has had loads of different assistants over the years.

I’m not too bothered or surprised by this. I mean, she’s done a really (very surprisingly) great job, but when the news that Chris Ecclestone was leaving came out, I figured that she might only stay long enough to be a link between the two series. Would be good with me if she stayed though, because she has done a fine job.

And all this talk of ‘bombshells’… they said the same thing for Ecclestone, before it turned out that the Beeb knew he was leaving all along.

Did you manage to see the first part in the end? I thought the second part wasn’t as creepy as the first, but the whole was very good. It was also really nicely plotted, with little details tying in. A couple of great lines, too. ‘A sonic screwdriver? Who has a screwdriver and thinks “that needs more sonic?”’
‘Haven’t you ever been bored? Had some units that needed putting up?’

Next episode looks like it could go eitehr way, tying in with different things from previous stories.

Series end is getting closer and closer. :(

The rift from the Unqiet Dead is in next weeks epiosode along with the surviving Slitheen,i think it will be good but it’ll just be setting things up for the series finale.

It didn’t really explain where he came from, only that he used to be a ‘Time Agent’ and that he was now a conman. Yeah, he is in later episodes, I think up until the end of teh season now (he may be back in next season too. Then he again he may die this season, I honestly don’t know.)
I liked the character.
