Act calm, don’t draw attention to yourself; just get in, leave the package, and get out. Nice and simple, like.

When Christopher Eccleston was on the Jo Whiley show about a week ago he said when he signed up for Doctor Who a 2nd series was never ever discussed by him or the writers.

If that’s true, then I blame Russel T Davies, for not asking… ;)
Mind you, seems strange, since his contract is/was supposed to be for a couple of years, I think (at least provisionally).
It just makes me nervous: we only have three or four left, now (i’m never entirely sure).

Well in a number of interviews who said the main thing that attracted him to the project was Russel T Davies writing.I think if Davies hadn’t been writing the new Who series i don’t think Christopher Eccleston would have been involved.Fuck knows who they will get to replace him,i hope they choose carefully otherwise Who could end up being cancelled again. If theres going to be an Christmas special then they need to find a new Doctor very quickly for the regeneration scene.I think the Doctor can regenerate 12 times?

Regenerate twelve times, making thirteen different Doctors? I think you’re right, yeah.
They’re talking to David Tennant(sp) to do it. He’s a fan, and he was in some Doctor Who Audio, apparently. (He’s also the guy in Cassanova, at the moment, but I’ve only seen clips.) For some reason I think he’d be quite good, which is strange since i’ve not seen anything of him beyond a couple of short clips.

And I still blame RTD ;)

Eddie Izzard as Doctor Who! That would be amazing! Bill Nighy would be kool too, he’s in the new Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy film, which would be quite good experience.

I think Eddie Izzard would just be Eddie Izzard, though (though I’ve seen him in serious roles and he is quite good). Mind you, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, since That’s just what TOm Baker did, too, but then, nobody knew who Tom Baker was beforehand…

Bill Nighy? *cautious* possibly.
At the moment, David Tennant is the favourite (the bookies have stopped taking bets on him).

I don’t think i could take Eddie Izzard serious as the Doctor even though judging from the first episode there does seem to be more humour in Doctor Who.

Is that the one with the free CD? I liked the Mary Whitehouse Experience Sketch, but thought the other clips were a bit too random to have any point.

If it is that one, then you may be amused to know I saw it being auctioned off on ebay last week, and the bids had reached about 8 pounds I think. Some people are just cretins.

I hate it when people auction stuff like that on Ebay, the worst one i ever saw was a few years back on a Manics fansite someone had posted some live MP3’s.A few days later that bootleg was on Ebay and the bids were over a £5 for a CD-R.

From Tachyton TV:
‘Fans were left screaming in the streets this week when the BBC failed to release any tat to coincide with the start of the new series. “It’s a disgrace,” said Andrew Beech. “When the TV Movie came out 8 years, 70 days, 14 hours and twenty six minutes ago, the BBC released loads of stuff like crappy, out of focus posters, a useless Post Card book filled with blurred images, and a Birthday Cake! I have money in my pocket and nothing to waste it on!”

A spokesperson for the BBC replied: “If it helps, we do have a monster book coming out soon that’s bound to be piss-poor”.’

Don’t know if you’ve seen this site before, but it’s pretty funny:

I read in the paper that a Doctor Who was closed down because the people on it were sending Christopher Eccleson offensive e-mails, climing he did it to further his carreer. I think that’s a little pathetic really.

I do think that was one of the reasons he did it to get a bigger profile and more money for his next acting job.He always appeared a bit high and mighty or should that be almighty(he was Jesus in the Second Coming) in interviews when he was talking about Doctor Who even though hes appeared in some crap like Gone In Sixty Seconds.I think a lot fans feel letdown because the shows been off the air for years and he was brillaint in the first episode and now hes announced hes only doing one series before the second episodes even been shown. So i can understand why they’re upset and if hes getting offendsive emails it will only reinforce his idea of Doctor Who fans being nutters.

Yeah Tachyton TV seems to have been influenced by tvgohome which was a spoof version of the Radio Times sadly the site is no more but you can find some old editions at http://www.ntk.net/tvgohome/ and Nathan Barley at http://www.thegestalt.org/simon/cunt/

Yeah, I know just what you mean. There _is_, though, still an interview with him on the official site where he talks about being in the role for two or three years (he says that he wants to do the show for seven months, take five months ‘off’, while doing theatre work, then come back again. But he sounded more enthusiastic about the theatre, frankly…).
I don’t know, I’m more annoyed that it was announced after the first episode, than anything else (and I gathe rthat’s only because one of the tabloids ‘broke’ the story too soon). Hatemail, arguments and boycotting the show aren’t going to make thinsg any better. Mind you, I’ve been told I’m particualrly laid back, so maybe that’s just me. ;)
