Unsurprising, but I’m quite happy with that. The kid will do well, I’m sure. :)

This week’s verdict? Pointless fart-gags aside I liked it. Compared with the previous episodes (particularly the first two) it’s pretty impressive how much they’ve squeezed into 45 minutes, really. Not a whole lot for UNIT to do, though (at least not yet; there’s always next week).

Yeah aside from the fart gags it was a good episode i was hoping UNIT would be in it a bit more and maybe the Brigadier would put in an appearance at some point or even just get a mention. It was good to see the guy who played Kurt in Teachers in this episode. Also this was the first episode that didn’t have a reference to the time war(maybe in part two?).

Yeah, I heard about the complaints. It’s funny. The cliche is always that Doctor Who makes kids hide behind the sofa, so what were they expecting? ;)

Gwyneth in the last episode mentioned ‘Bad Wolf’ when she was reading Rose’s mind, and now the TARDIS has Bad Wolf written on the side. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the war, but it’s another little detail.

Misanthropologist i saw the bad wolf graffiti on the TARDIS but i didn’t notice the reference in the Unquiet Dead.

I’ve heard that there was a ‘Bad Wolf’ reference in each of the episodes, but I’m not sure if that’s true or not. (Apparently one of the aliens in episode two uses the phrase, and the nestene consciousness says something that sounds like it in the first episode (But I’m not sure, because I thought it just sort of growled *shrug*))

Did you get to see it in the end, Ben?

Quite amusing. :)

Chack out the publications section.

“UTE-18 – “But what has happened to Luton?” Coping with common press enquiries

(Please note UTE-13b replaces UTE-13: “Corporal Cooper’s Behaving Strangely”) “

I also like the (Only Fools… style) ‘New York - Geneva - Hong Kong - Essex.’ ;)

Have you looked at the security section? (password BISON). It has the press release explaining what ‘really’ happened during the first episode. Genius… (I love the fact that the official report mentions something about them still having time to have tea and sandwiches. :))

The offical BBC Doctor Who site is very good, what do you think of it?There’s an interview with David Tennant on it.

It’s pretty cool site, though. This is a new thing on it:

I was rewatching an old episode earlier ‘The Daemons’, where UNIT manage to miss a live tv broadcast showing the arrival of the devil himself during an archaelogical dig, all because they were watching rugby on the otehr side. :D Gotta love it. ;)

Which are the best Doctor Who stories that a newbie like me should buy on DVD?

I’m not sure which ones are actually out on dvd now. Well, I think City Of Death is coming out soon, and that is truly excellent. It’s a Tom Baker Story, written by Douglas Adams (under a pseudonym) and it’s about a time travelling creature from another planet involved in art theft in Paris. :D That’s just a generally really good story, so I’d definitely recommend that.

Um, I personally really like Ghostlight as well, which I know is on DVD because I have that one. It’s a sylvester mcCoy story, and it’s got so many layers to it, that it need watching more than once.

Caves of Androzani is on DVD, and that’s pretty popular, as I understand it (It’s a Peter Davison story). I like it, but I don’t think it’s remarkable, especially.

Oh, and if ‘Pyramids of Mars’ or ‘The Talons Of Weng Chiang’ are on dvd then you should get those, because they’re both cool.

I’ll have a think of some more later if you like.

Can’t remember if I posted this link already, but it gets updated to match each episode being shown, so it’s worth going back to it for a laugh:

Of course I liked it ;) I think it’s all settled down quite nicely. I mean, not as a criticism, but that seemed like quite a ‘typical’ Doctor Who story to me. Sort of what I’d hoped for, but nothing more, if you see what I mean? Shame that UNIT didn’t have a more important role (though I guess their computer system did).
An absurd plot (in a good way ;)); Ecclestone behaving more like the Doctor; and it’s not really like anything else on television. It makes me happy. :) I’d still rather there were more stories written by otehr people than Russel T Davies, though, just for variety’s sake.

Yeah, next episode looks great. Rob Shearman is a great writer, so I’m expecting a lot from him. :)

I liked it,i think Rose might fancy the Doctor.I thought it was funny all the references to weapons of absolute destruction.
Episode 6 is going to be very interesting i can’t wait to see it apparently there is going to be a major revelation about the Doctor in this episode.

Yeah, what was that thing with the weapons? I think they were ‘Massive Weapons of Destruction’ weren’t they?

Billie Piper keeps on about how it’s a love story in interviews. I hope they don’t get carried away with that idea, though..

Well i thought the weapons were a satire of the second Gulf war, everyone believed Saddam had them and in that episode everyone believed the aliens had them.
Episode 6 Dalek was without a doubt fucking brilliant!!!!!
The best one yet and another bad wolf reference, the helicopter landing was called bad wolf.So the Daleks did destroy Gallifrey.

Shhh! No need to give away spoilers for anyone who doesn’t know what’s happening next.

But my god, wasn’t that just fantastic?! Brilliant! :D Lots of great stuff in there. I liked the stuff about why the Dalek would kill everyone, it was something like:
Dr:What’s the nearest inhabited area?
VS: Salt Lake City
Dr:Population?
VS:One Million
Dr: All dead. Unless we can stop it getting out.
VS(astounded and horrified): But why?! Why would it do that?!
Dr: Because it honestly believes that they all deserve to die.

Last week, the whole world was in danger, and you’re there watching, going ‘uh huh, ok, the whole world.’
This week, there’s a single Dalek that wants to kill off an entire city one civilian at a time. That’s nasty. I loved it. :D

And play the amusing Dalek game on the official bbc website:

Well, I finally submitted and watched some tonight. Thought it was all rather good fun but was surprised at what a shockingly bad actor Christopher Eccleston is. Isn’t he meant to be a proper thesp? The man was more monotone than the bloody dalek.
