The Tears

#

Started by Bad Karma

THE TEARS have delayed the release of their hotly-awaited album.

The band, formed by the reformed Suede songwriting partnership of Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler, will now put out ’Here Come The Tears’ in June and not May 2 as previously stated.

The single ’Refugees’ is still set to be released on April 18.

As previously reported by NME.COM, tracks slated for ‘Here Come The Tears’ include ‘Apollo 13’, ‘Imperfection’, ‘Ghost Of You’, ‘Two Creatures’, ‘Fallen Idol’, ‘Co-Star’ and ‘Brave New Century’.

The Tears will play a series of dates later this spring. The shows are:

Cambridge Junction (April 18)
Sheffield Leadmill (19)
Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall (20)
Portsmouth Pyramid Centre (22)
Liverpool Carling Academy (23)
Newcastle University (24)
London Shepherds Bush Empire (May 23)

I know theres quite a few Suede fans here so what do you think of The Tears debut single?I think it’s just ok better than some of the later Suede songs but i don’t think they’ll ever match the Dog Man Star era.

i think the single is okay. it’s not fantastic or anything but it could’ve been a lot worse. i’m going to see them at the junction on the 18th so i’ll know for sure then if they’re any good.

I’ve heard a few bootlegs of the Tears first gigs the new songs are alright nothing really amazing though, think Brett singing over some of Bernards solo stuff.

saw the tears last night in cambridge. i was really impressed actually. it was just like being at a suede gig but without having heard the songs yet. bernard and brett were getting on very well onstage. they played for just over an hour.

i just read on nme.com that apparenty in sheffield they played “the living dead” as an encore. dammit. that’s one of my favourite suede tunes too. i was of the impression that they’d be doing no suede stuff? well it only took them two nights into the tour to change that.

but of course i still love brett and bernie

i think “a new morning” was the best suede album since “dog man star”. the only dire suede album was “head music”.

(apologies about my last aborted post, see above, i clicked the send thing a bit too quickly)

I really can’t stand A New Morning… the production’s much too shiny, the vocal harmonies don’t fit, I don’t think Anderson fits ‘happy’ songs and to be honest, the lyrics are shocking. Astrogirl?
Head Music I like some of, but I see as an admirable experiment… they were trying to branch off into different areas, and it didn’t fully work, but they gave it a go. A New Morning just seems like they ran out of ideas all together. Plus, Head Music has Electricity, Everything Will Flow, Elephant Man (yeah, it’s silly, but hey) and He’s Gone, which are among my favourite Suede songs. Nothing on A New Morning comes close (to be honest, Positivity and Untitled… Morning are the only tracks I can listen to on it).
Coming Up is my favourite Suede record.

While Head Music isn’t as good as the first three albums i thought most of it was alright.Wasn’t Brett on smack a lot during that era?
A New Morning is just very average it’s the sort of album that really only appeals to the faithfull.
I think The Tears debut will be far superior than the later Suede albums but maybe not as good as the early stuff.

Yeah, that’s how I’m placing it.
Coming Up > Dog Man Star > Suede > Here Come The Tears > Head Music > A New Morning.

Some of the songwriting isn’t that different to A New Morning, actually, in terms of the melodies… especially as a lot of it’s major key stuff. But it’s done with the same conviction as their better material. So I like it, but don’t love it.

I bought Here Come The Tears yesterday and i’m pleased to say it’s a good album. The Tears have been quite prolific in the short time they’ve been together there’s 13 songs on the album and Refugees had 4 B-sides and so does the next single Lovers.I guess Brett and Bernard are making up for lost time.
There’s the odd dodgy lyric here and there but other than that there’s really nothing i can find fault with. It’s the best ‘indie pop’ album i’ve heard in a long time.
The Tears have played a new song live called Europe After Rain which is mean’t to be very good and it’s going to be on the second album.I know Brett said Suede would make another album one day but if the Tears can make another album as good as their debut or better it i think Suede reforming would be pointless.

It would seem a little strange Suede reforming considering The Tears are pretty much sound-a-likes. I suppose it depends on the other four members of Suede, really.
