new order “waiting for the siren’s call”

#

Started by not_that_kind_of_guy (a story on the radio)

bought it yesterday and haven’t stopped listening to it since. i think it’s great. i did expect a lot more synths though due to the fact that it was promoted in interviews as a 50/50 split between old school new order and the more recent “get ready” type stuff. but i think it’s rather good anyway, anyone else?

Heard Krafty and the title track which are quite good, but read so many reviews saying it’s mediocre that I haven’t bought it.

Plus, Sumner’s lyrics are getting even worse. “Travel with a document…all across the continent”

Lyrics have never been New Order’s Strongpoint,i haven’t bought the new album yet.I was going to buy it when i was shopping in Tescos on Thursday but Waiting For The Siren’s call was sold out and i wasn’t going to pay £12.99 or £13.99 in HMV or Virgin when i can get it for about £9.99 or less in Tescos hopefully it should be in stock this week.
When i first heard Krafty i didn’t like it but after a few listens it grew on me a little i just think it’s ok not as strong as Crystal as a first single.
I don’t think New Order have released anything as bad as some of the recent Manics output Jess. :P

I like it, and as has been said lyrics have never been the greatest. But as long as it’s better than republic it can’t be bad.

I bought the new album in Tesco’s it was only £9.97!I must say Waiting For The Siren’s call is very good(ok some daft lyrics but they wouldn’t be New Order without them ;))it’s lacks a stand out song like Crystal but it’s a more consistant album compared to Get Ready. My only minor compliant is with the running order i think Turn should have been the last song instead of Working other that it’s great to have them back!

11 tracks - 5 mingers, the remaining 6 are brilliant. It’s said that the title track is the song they’re most proud of in their entire career, but I found it unlistenable. On the other hand one review called ‘guilt is a useless emotion’ ‘a career low’, but it’s a glorious Kylie-esque disco stomper.

Lyric-wise, Barney’s never been able to resist a lazy ryhme, but it’s all part of the fun. It’s good to have them back - anyone know about live dates?

I like Guilt Is A Useless Emotion too i don’t think there’s anything on Waiting For The Siren’s call i’d call a career low.The next single is Jetstream it’s going to be an edited version.
