Yeah - Divers, we must be about the same age or something cause thats kinda what I though & felt. Nirvana were one of the first bands (along with Guns N Roses and Metallica) that I really fucking loved. When I was getting into them I was 12-13 years old and when Kurt died I was 15.
Up until hearing Nirvana I had absolutely no interest in music as I hadn’t really heard anything that I liked. For me personally - Nirvana were a very pivotal band - and I was very sorry and saddened when it ended the way it did.
Well by the sounds of it we are the same age i was born in 1979, and same tastes by the look of it. As by then i had seen guns n roses and metallica twice. it’s a small and weird world and i wasn’t expecting to kill himself like he did.

I remember the day well. Dave Fanning announced it on his radio show. It was a weird feeling alright. What was even weirder were the people who were kinda happy about it, because now we (our generation) had our own Jim Morrison or Jimi Hendrix.
I do miss Nirvana a lot. I thought they were such a great band. I’m not sure where they could have gone musically after In Utero, but unfortunately we’ll never know.
Having said all that, I was more affected by the passing of Freddy Mercury. He was the first person I was a big fan of to die, that was a major event. I still get a lump in my throat listening to ‘´The Show Must Go On’.

‘.
From what I could see from the Nirvana Box set Musically Dave was having more of an input and looking at the songs that were recorded at some of the last session quite a few songs that have ended up on Foo Fighters albums were done, that would have been interesting. But we shall never know and this is me guessing.

I haven’t got the boxset yet, I must get it soon. Kurt was always the main creative force, it would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Dave had more input.

It’s a good buy, off the top of my head songs like Exhusted and Febuary stars were recorded.

Time to start dropping the all important hints to the girlfriend then. From what I’ve seen and read it does seem to have been put together with care.

It’s a very good box, none of the foo fighters songs are on the box set but you can see in the booklet that they were recorded.
Good luck with the hints.

I think the reason people still write about Nirvana and Kurt Cobain is because they’re a hell of a lot more interesting than Maroon5 or whatever shite that passes for rock in the mainstream.I’m a fan of Queen as well in fact they were the first rock band i can remember liking.I use to hate music when i was very young because i thought it was all crap like Bros. Then one day i heard Bohemian Rhapsody and it was the most amazing thing i’d ever heard and it still sounds great today.I had that same feeling when i first heard Smells Like Teen Spirit.Freddy has the better voice he just seemed to give his all in every song he recorded,Cobain was more of a screamer than a singer but i think both of them have very unique vocals.I don’t worship Kurt Cobain as some sort of Messiah i just think Nirvana were a great band and important band in 90’s rock music.Like a lot of people here Nirvana were a gateway into the world of rock music.I don’t think anyone has forgotten Queen or Freddy their Greatest Hits vol 1,2 and 3 still sell quite well, commercial radio stations still play Queen a lot and just a few months ago Q had a special on them.Queen had a musical and they are touring again with Paul Rogers so they’re are in the spotlight more than Nirvana infact tonight at 9:10 ITV have a Queen Mania special.
