Computer help…

Started by JSar666

Right, a few minutes ago one of my folders full of notes fell on my laptop keyboard and the right shift key popped out of it’s place. Panicking, I stuck it back where it belonged and it seems to function OK, but now it sits at a funny angle, with one end of the key higher up than the other. Is this a hard problem to fix?

Mrs. Kennedy, are you trying to seduce me?

I did feel a bit like Homer Simpson when it happened. Fuck my notes from uni though  I always said notes were useless.

Maybe you’ll find some help here:

Different companies have different ways to ‘fasten’ the keys so it’s hard to give a general answer.

Yeah, it didn’t go out completely, one end just kind of popped outof its socket. Not that I really use the right shift key much (I use the left a lot more for some reason), but it just looks wrong looking at the keyboard.

Don’t be afraid to rip them out and stick them back in. Keyboards are quite sturdy.

Thanks guys, I took Seb’s advice (I know, I’m as shocked as you), ripped it out and properly replaced the key. Phew.

Oh and thanks for the link allroy.

I rip keys out of boards all the time. I am experienced in that field. If you have questions about punching your monitor, kicking your case or gently weeping in the corner of your room let me know.

Glad to help.
