I get that all the time,i think T? have always been more popular in England and Belgium than in Ireland. If you mention Ash or The Undertones eveyone has heard of them T? are just a cult band which is cool.

It was a respectable turn out I thought at the Ambassador gig. One thing that did please me was that everyone around me was wearing T? t-shirts from the Shameless and High Anxiety tours, and not just shirts from when they were more popular.
But I don’t think T? were ever that ‘mainstream’ in Ireland, despite the fact that they played the Point depot on the IL tour.

There wasnt great advertising for it anyway was there?
nope, unless you live in dublin you wouldn’t ever hear about gigs like that…advertisers think that anyone who doesnt live in dublin is not worthy of their posters etc…also as tgE said they dont advertise that much on radio…they do however advertise tea, cars, porrige, sugar, washing powder, paint, fertiliser, insurance…

I think you are all right in many ways, T? in Dublin is an annual event, they move venues (Ambassador / Village / Olympia), the crowd size is puzzling to me - varies from 1,000 - circa 600. You must consider though the age of T? fans who were early fans - they are less likely to attend a show today as they are late 30’s to mid 40’s, now have wives and kids and baby sitter issues. T? had their mainstream appeal shot, and that was in Troublegum days.
To those in Dublin, I have seen them in Belfast & Utrecth, similar sized crowds in all. There is a much younger generation now of T? fans who arrived very late to the party, these are making up for the earlier fans who have moved on.
T? spent a long time before they nailed their colours to the mast in terms of which music style they felt they were in, the Ozzfest inclusion answered that question, yet the DVD interviews showed punk & metal are both popular within the band.
I would like to see them play the Iron Maiden / Marilyn Manson show - where they have the chance to be heard by maybe 60,000 people as opposed to 800 once a year in Dublin. They switched promoters this year to Raglane.com and they were advertised well, but I think an all-ages show might produce bigger numbers.
Thems my thoughts!

Hope they change venue next time they play a ‘proper’ gig in belfast (i.e. headlining). I have only ever seen them in the mandela every time they’ve played there. Come on, you got Spring & Airbrake for fuck sakes now. Much better venue

i dont know if you saw them at ozzfest…but the crowd barely noticed they were on the stage apart from a few up the front…granted most people there might not be into T? but it was ridiculous…and a shame cos they’re great…

Are you referring to the irish ozzfest 2002? I guess people were a bit bummed that day when Ozzy let us down.
Although i seen them at Ozzfest 98 in england where they were added at the last minute to replace Korn and they walked away heros of the day. Absoulty fanatastic, nobody gave a shit about korn after they played.
scary, that was 7 years ago

I’ve heard that korn aren’t all that great live, not a clue if its true or not, but someone told me they had zero crowd interaction and barely acknowledge their existence. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I’d be interested in seeing them live but not that fussed as I only like a couple of songs.

Title: T? Live in Ireland
Am also from Tyrone in NI - have been a Therapy? fan since 92. Have had many rants and raves about the arseholes in Dublin who move with whatever trend is going (in what other city would the likes of McGonagles and Fibbers close??) The new album got very little coverage here in Ireland, as far as I can tell even Cormac Battle on 2Fm ignored it. Am not a big fan of the ‘singer/songwriter’ thing.
The BIG festival here in Ireland is Oxegen and is a mix of stuff but the Foo Fighters and QOSTA are playing and I am still hoping that therapy? may play as there would be alot of youngsters who may be open about seeing them live, as they are without doubt the best band I’ve seen live. I was at one of the 10 year Camden shows and it was amazing. I always enjoyed The London gigs, they was a big crowd and they were very friendly and lively!

I’ve seen Therapy? every time they’ve played Belfast from Fyfe’s last gig at the Ulster Hall at Christmas 1995 onwards.
I don’t think they actually palyed here on the Semi-Detached tour, but when they re-appeared at The Empire for the Suicide Pact show, the venue was the most insanely packed I’ve ever seen it. It was like a huge homecoming/re-union gig celebration type deal, with the pit about 15 rows deep - pretty much taking up the entire dancefloor. I was black and blue the next day!
Time after that in the Mandela (Shameless tour) wasn’t so packed, but the Scobophobia gig was rammed. So was the 6Music Live gig and the most recent NANE tour show.
Basically the hardcore are always there, plus a varied amount of other punters depending on how “in” rock music is that particular month.
Certainly there was a time in Belfast (91-94) when you couldn’t go 100 yards in town without seeing some crusty youngster with long hair, combats and a nice Gemil logo shirt on.
Hope to see some of you fuckers down the front on Saturday!
EDIT: Also, to whoever it was who thinks the Spring and Airbrake is a better venue than the Mandela, you are talking keek. Yes, obviously muddy acoustics, crap layout and a big feckin pole right in the middle of the actual stage are ideal qualities of a live venue!
