I’m on a bit of a Melvins kick at the moment, and just seeing if anyone else likes them and what albums are good to get I have a few but it’s always good to get recomendations.

Melvins are so awesome.

I recommend the three Kiss-style eps and the self-titled album (formerly called Lysol) and Bullhead.

The only ones I have are Stoner Witch and Houdini, they are really good - I managed to see the Melvins a couple of years ago supporting Tomahawk, they were pretty fuckin heavy!

The Joe Preston ep sounds like Earth, the drone rockers he was in before he joined the Melvins.Bullhead should still be available though it’s not their debut. That was called Ten Songs but has been re-released with bonus tracks as 26 songs.

I’ve heard of no UK dates for Melvins so far but Fantômas have just one in London at The Forum on June 18.

Yeah, the one with the indian is the s/t (sometimes it’s also referred to as Lysol, the title of the one 30+ minutes long track on it).

I don’t know if anyone is a fan or interested but the melvins are touring in December at these venues.

Cardiff the point- december 10th
London Scala- December 11th
Oxford Zodiac- December 12th
Manchester Academy 3- December 13th
Glasgow Garage- December 14th

They are worth checking out they are fucking heavy and their new album (A) senile Animal is their best in years, and the double drummer action should be really cool. Support comes from Flipper and Big Buisness so a top night out.:)

The Maggot is also cool. The ones with jello biafra are good, especially Sieg Howdy I have soft spot for. Don’t start with Prick, that’s a bloody pile of pointless noise
Anyway check this:

http://www.stonerrock.com/features/index.asp?FeatureID=130

It’s a run through of all their albums made by one of the stonerrock.com editors
Helped me a lot, I went from Melvins-dumie to a fan in only a couple of months

i’m not sure whether i’d go to ATP. They always have great lineups sure, but i’m not sure whether the fans are all gonna be indie snobs of the worst kind. :D I could be wrong, i’m just guessing.

Yeah prick is one to avoid it is them arseing about. Stoner witch and stag are really good…I prefer the live version of Houdini to the original Hostil Ambient takeover is another good one. I sort of like all their albums as you never know what you will get, but the straight forward ones are easier to singalong too ;)
