The Aborym album is good. I’ve also been listening to a band called Taake I reckon you would like (the album I have is called Nattestid)…really well played Norwegian underground black metal, similar to early Emperor. Hope you’re having fun over there mate!

Does The Feeling’s album count…?

I mean, musically it may not strictly be black metal, but it DOES drive me to form a suicide pact in an old church grounds…?

I’m listening Anaal Nathrakhs newest, jeesh what a helluva lot of noise. This is truly one of the most menacing albums I have ever heard. Harsh nihilistic pounding metal.

I just got this and it’s great :)

That MySpace page has the famous photo of Hoest (out of Norwegian black metallers Taake, who I really like) with his knob unwittingly hanging out of his ripped jeans…I bet he’s not best pleased about that being seen across the globe :)

Old thread bump…
So my bro has passed me some new (to me) albums.

Kinda refreshed my interest in the old Black Metal - there are a few bands doing some interesting stuff again.

Wolves In The Throne Room - ‘Black Cascade’ & the ‘Malevolent Grain Ep’
Fen - The Malediction Fields

I believe they are know as ‘Post-Black Metal’ - still if a bit of the old growly growly floats your boat I’d recomend you give em a listen.

I’m also listening to the new Ov Hell (dimmu borgir offshoot) album - haven’t decided whether it is good or shit yet. It sounds a bit more traditional black metal than Dimmu - I guess the previous two bands show it up though.

I’ll have to check them out.

Apart from the old favourites I now like a Finnish band called Behexen. And there’s a good album by Nachtmystium called “Black Meddle” which I imagine would also be called “post Black Metal”. There’s a new Burzum album coming out as well, now that the old church burner ‘n’ murderer Varg Vikernes is out of the slammer.

Check out a band from Cork called ‘Alter Of Plagues’, if you like your Black Metal with a little bit of a kick in the pants.
They have a good modern vibe to them, compared to the tried and tested Black Metal types out there.
They bring a lot of ambient influencesi into the songs. And even a little doom here and there.
They’ve made huge leaps in the Irish underground metal scene over the last few years.

The first 2 demos are good enough! ‘The First Plague’ and ‘through The Cracks In The Earth’.
But their self-released SOL E.P. is fantastic.
They released an album last year called ‘White Tomb’.
And have just signe to Candlelight records, which takes its Black Metal seriously considering its past signings.

They’ve also toured with Mahem and Wolves In The Throne Room

Highly recommended band.

They’ve got a new E.P. coming out on CD and vinyl the first week in April.
‘Tides’ I they’re calling it. On the Burning World label. Not on Candlelight.
This release was agreed before the Candlelight deal was made.
