Dead - Story Behind The Song

#

Started by cocaine boy

Did anyone look at this part of the story behind the songs? Andy says:

“They’re directed toward one particular person but could apply to any one of the shitehawks who dropped me like a ton of shite when we stopped being ‘popular’ and I couldn’t/wouldn’t help them out with gigs, drugs, backstage passes anymore.”

And in the second paragraph he adds also:

“My true friends I can count on one hand and they’ve, for the most part, been the same friends I’ve had for years. I care a lot about these people. As for the person that song’s about, if you ever read this you know who you are. If you ever see me cross the road.”

Do you have any idea who this particular person is? I have an idea but i want know that people think as the way i’m thinking.

I never really got the impression that that person was somebody that we would know.

On an almost related topic, I always thought Save The Sermon was about Graham and his dislike of Andys drug use. Was I completely wrong?

I’ve heard in an interview that it was about a guy who worked for a recordcompany and was a good friend of Andy.

Dead is about some guy who kept on critisising Andy for becoming “mainstream” when the band signed to a major label and sold many records. That very person is now working for a major label himself, caring for mainstream bands so standing for all the things he critisied Andy for.

That’s what I’ve read in interviews. (More than one, so I think that’s pretty much the story if I got it right)

I think Dead was aimed at the people that went along with the ride when T? were a big name, being mates with Andy cause he had the drugs.

Then when show was over, the glory seekers didn’t want to know, now following others, living off another’s lifestyle.

I think that’s the story, but I’m sure Andy did mention the basis of this song on this site, prior to the release of NANE.
