REM on Tour 05

#

Started by fatboy

Roll on Sunday July 10th, 2005, when I’ll be going to see REM in Cardiff. I know that touring Europe at the moment and doing Live 8, but I’m really looking forward to it.

Alright, Around The Sun wasn’t up to much (though it did have its moments)but is anyone going to see them.

By the way, my fave REM albums are Reckoning and Life’s Rich Pagent. What’s yours?

Got a freebie ticket from The Devlins , who played support.

Not a big fan , but think they did pretty good.
‘Its the end of the world as we know it…’ goes down very well after a day of drinking beer in the sun !

That just sounds wonderful…I can see myself shouting the words out along with Mr Stipe…yes, even if I’m…ing a couple of people off. Don’t want to get drunk though.

Out of interest, how much of the old stuff did they play?

REM arent interesting for me anymore. Hate their new album. They are not really inspiring anymore, i just think theyve become very boring and are not making exciting music anymore. There was a time when they were really good, but now have turned into a bunch of up-their-own old men. And dont get me started on the blue shit that Stipe puts on his face. Ziggy Stardust you are not Michael.

After Bush’s reelection they decided not to play it anymore, at least not on this tour.

Right,I write this in the day centre that I go too. At the moment, I’ve got the tour t-shirt on. I’ve got a dull ache in my right ankle…and I feel fine.

I wasn’t bothered that they didn’t play ‘Its The End…’, simply cause they played new tracks that were new to me (and to others), played These Days from Life’s Rich Pagent, most thought it was a new song, as was Exhuming McCarthy from Document.

Got to be honest, the encore had to be the highlight. That DJ song was pretty heavy for them, and I loved it.

Aye, I’m happy!!!!!

Saw them at Hyde Park and it was lots of fun. Mike looked bemused when Michael (of the Stipe variety) sat on his piano and tried to play it with his feet.

Oh and they did play “It’s The End of The World As We Know It.”

Maybe they did it as it was the final show of their world tour.

And I’ve heard Patti Smith joined them on stage for E-Bow The Letter
