It’s a worthy cause and all that but i don’t fancy slumming it with a bunch of students.

A pathetic response. What a sad reflection on Therapy? that not one of ye lazy fuckers could be bothered to take a day or two out of what is probably a very boring life to go and protest against some of the most evil men on the planet. If some of ye spent less time posting and more time taking an interest on what’s going on around you then maybe some of us wouldn’t have to go to Scotland. Shame on you all, wankers.

Bollocks! It’s no reflection on Therapy? whatsoever, some of us have very boring bills to pay and other responsibilites and i have a job interview tomorrow which to me is far more important and i don’t care if someone think i’m cunt for saying it.We don’t all have the time or money to swan off and be ‘right on’ in Scotland.

‘probably a very boring life’…? OK, that is a claim that needs to be backed up with the mathmatical formula you used to come to that conclusion. How did you work out that our lives are, in all (mathmatical) probability, very boring?

Apart from anything else, who, out of those 8 people, are really going to give a shit that you’re standing outside? I hope they do the right thing and cancel the debt, sure, but what good does it do to stand outside while they dicuss it with dollar signs in their eyes? They know what people think, who the hell would disagree (ok, there are extremists…)? The portest, if i makes you feel better, go for it, but don’t delude yourself into thinking that you’re really going to have an impact on the lives of people in the third world… and I really hope Kill_Hill replies to this, because I enjoy tearing apart paper-thin arguements.

*sigh*… and that’s that.

Ah, interesting. Evidently, the patient has deluded expectations of ‘saving the world’… and evidently this is taking up so much of his time that he has not five minutes to spare to make a valid response to any of the intelligent and reasonable comments that have been made here. This is of course, more delusional since he has, of course, posted this invalid resonse instead, which takes about the same length of time to do. Although, standing around with a bunch of like-minded invididuals in Scotland, not doing very much, seems like it really needn’t take that much time…

His statement closes with the advice that we ‘shouldn’t think too much’. A philosophy he himself seems to follow, but it really hasn’t gotten him very far. As far as I can tell, it is impossible to think too much, so I advise everyone, on the contrary, to think as much as possible, even if only to prove this idiot wrong.

I notice he has still neglected to produce this imaginary formula that determines our lives are boring… well, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and keep waiting…

Being very cynical i don’t think the G8 leaders will give a fuck about how many people are protesting in Scotland because for seven of them it’s not their country and there’s always protests wherever these meetings are held anyway.I think Blair cares more about the Olympics bid which i think is being announced on wednesday when the Gleneagles conference is on.Blair has always been tried to be a populist leader and he lost a lot of ground and credibility with the Iraq war and he’s in his final term now and for a while it looked there was going to be a breakthrough in the Northern Ireland peace process until in typical Northern Irish fashion it fucked up and Blair thought he was going to the person who would go down in the history books as the man with the plan for peace. At the moment the only thing he’s going to be remembered for is Iraq and being Bush’s lapdog so thats why i think he’s in league with Bob Geldof and Live8 he wants to be remembered in history as a great political leader.
I think everyone hopes there will be an end to the poverty, but these leaders will be putting their own self interests first over Africa.

This may sound like I’m taking the piss but I’m genuinely curious and/or naive:
If the thousands of people dying everyday due to poverty isn’t enough to make the G8 leaders do anything about it, then why does anyone think that thousands of people having a lovely party is going to make them stop and think?

Not true, most of the violent protestors have firmly held anarchist/anti-capitalist political views. So, what should people do when peaceful protest has zero effect?

Resorting to terrorism is not going to change any of the minds at the G8.

All these people are achieving is taking attention away from the hundreds of thousands of peacefull protesters that have given their time & effort to make a point and standing up for what they believe is right, as well as terrifying the poor law abiding citizens that are working in these places that they are attacking.

Peacefull protest hasnt even been given a chance - this was on the first fucking day for gods sake - they were bringing weapons with them…

Peaceful protest has been given a chance on plenty of occasions - just look at what happened during the Iraq war. Two million people protesting and they were completely ignored.

If the heads of capitalist states feel they have the right to exploit and attack the world’s weak and poor, then the citizens of those states have the right to counterattack, including symbols of capitalism such as banks, and defenders of the system, such as police.

Now I have to go to work :D
