A lot of the bands who performed at Live 8 are doing quite well in the Amazon Hot 100 Music Albums.

The one thing I like about Dave Gilmor compared to Mr McCartney is that he give’s shit loads of his money away. He has said that he has a fortune of £3,500,000 and he will never be able to spend all of it so whats the point. When he wants to get rid of property he choices a charity and signs the house over to them to sell. Which is great. Paul McCartney ONLY gives money to things that him or his Wife are involved with. And at his Wedding made his guests pay for there own drinks, he has 500 million. Thats just being cheap!

People!!! Behave yourselves - Not a mention of the Who yet?!?!?!

Won’t Get Fooled Again was great, as was seeing old Townsend do the whole windmill routine. Call me old, but THAT is what rock is about to me

I didn’t knew that they (The Who) was there! :( kind of watched the whole event on/off. Annie Lennox was the best I saw, she has aged so well and still has that voice. It would have been also great to hear that Coldplay/Aschroft doing “Bittersweet Symphony”, but didn’t…

The thing is there is no real atmosphere there in the crowd

I actually went [won tickets for the wife, she likes U2,Coldplay etc] and there was absolutely no atmosphere.

I couldn’t understand it, having been to rock and metal gigs where the atmosphere is electric. I thought with it being such a huge event there would be an atmosphere but there was nothing.

But then again big gigs suck. Give me a little, sweat saoked club with the mighty T? any day.

The Who were great though, as were Pink Floyd, Velvet REvolver and REM. The rest were crap.

The only time the crowd seemed to have a bit of life in them was when Robbie Williams was on.

it’s true. about five years ago dave gilmour decided to sell one of his mansions and instead of pocketing the cash he gave the whole lot away to charity.

also, take a look here: http://www.floydianslip.com/news-archive/2004/04-feb-11-mccartney.htm

Anyway even though i was a grumpy git about the whole thing. I did see pink floyd and they were absolutly fantastic:D:D:D and the best thing on. I do think Paul McCartney should have been on before them and they close the show.Because as a solo artist his biggest hits have been Mull Of Kintyre and the frog chorus, and his third rate versions of beatles songs didn’t really leave the thing on a high. But we shall wait and see if the whole thing changes anything, but it was a good effort none the less:)

If I have to see another one of these events that ends with Sir Paul McCartney screaming the outro of “Hey Jude” for hours, I think I’m going to pull a Markd David Chapman on him.
