it’s a nice line. but bollocks.

even in the most simplistic case where someone was sad, therefore had a some stories, but now is happy. they are a happy person, they haven’t lost the stories.

Ah, I always took happy people as those who get everything given to them on a plate and dont worry about being having to work or make any cash since ‘mummy’ & ‘daddy’ will pay for everything.

I’m sure we’ve all known some spoilt brat like that (not that Im bitter or nout.)

Maybe it means that no-one is entirely happy, in the world, ever, not even spoilt little brats. And that’s a good thing, cos if they were totally happy, they’d be really uninteresting and boring and they’d have no stories. Do you get that? Or maybe it’s saying no-one is happy because everyone has stories (it could be saying that if you screw it up a bit). I don’t know, but that’s the way I interpret it. Lyrics are like poetry so you can interpret it how you like. Anyway, I love that song.

I read an interview once where Andy said it was about a girl who wanted to hang out with them (‘unhappy’ people). Mainly because they had stories to tell and did more interesting things.

The happy person Gibson described sounds like George W. Bush Jr.

Yeah well, at least he’s not a 15 year old school kid who thinks he’s god’s gift to the world. And at least he doesn’t hide behind a pretence of knowledge and arrogance in which he gives insulting remarks based on no authority whatsoever except for what he saw once on TV cos he was bored. These things are a blessing to the man, don’t you think?

Sorry, didn’t mean to be horrible there. Well, not that horrible. Sorry. I’m just a closet nasty person.

I always thought that the line ‘happy people have no stories’ means something sarcastic, about people who try to get attention, with scandals or something like that. If all is going well nobody cares for it.
