SAMPLES in Therapy? songs…

“Wake up. Time to die!”

…whatever happened to those? I mean, they started off with sampls in their tracks, and it sounded quite cool (adding them all up to build the atmos), but they all kind of disappeared after NURSE album.

I especially liked the ones in live version of INNOCENT X, too bad they were not in the sudio version :(

It’s a pity, really.

Yea, have to agree with you there. I guess pickng the samples would become kind of a burden in later releases (in album producing, etc.), while in the beginning it helped the tracks to leave even bigger impression. I mean, who could forget moments like ending of POTATO JUNKIE (BTW, where’s that sample from?) or PERVERSONALITY… Yes, there are some of them on later releases, like beginning line in HATE KILL DESTROY, or a line in CHURCH OF NOISE, but I miss those old ones… Kind of cult-noir-stuff :)

Also, can’t help but notice all the strange in-between-track sample/noises/groove that happened a lot on INFERNAL LOVE and little les on SEMI-DETACHED albums… You know, those bits of various sounds and noises between tracks. A perfect urban-scape soundtrack.

Well, gotta love ‘em, that is. :)

A few years ago I wrote down all the samples in a list and attached them to their original source. If I remember right there was only one I couldnt find. It was actually quite fun and satisfying. I wish I could find that list, Ive forgotten most of them now. Have you guys done that before on this board?

Oh, yeah! You got that right, have to agree with you there. They were not just “thrown in for a good measure”, but they really helped to build the atmos…

“It was three o’clock in the morning, I couldn’t sleep. All of the same thoughts kept racing through my mind over and over and over again. I just wanted them to stop. Period. And I thought, well, if I kill myself, I’ll stop thinking.”

I was watching Bladerunner for the first time the other day (years after reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) and one of the bad guys says this to Harrison Ford in a fight

This is probably already common knowledge but it raised a smile anyway.

Huh… interesting. I red somewhere that it was Nick Cave’s line from one documentary, or something…

As correctly quoted, “Wake up… Time to die!” is from Bladerunner, and is said by the character Leon (I think) when he’s wrestling with Decker on a car bonnet.

Yup, sorry, mea culpa :) “Here I am MF” is by Nick, and the “Wake up!” sample is from BladeRunner.

Cheers!:D

Speaking of samples… There was this live version of SKINNING PIT that I have on “No Love Lost” bootleg (printed on the back cover as SKINNY PIG!!! :D) which has this really freaky female-sample intro… There she was, screaming something about being and not being in control. Something like: “I like to be in control, but just once… wouldn’t you like to se me out of control? Wouldn’t that be nice?!” Really freaky…

Anyways, I wonder if any of you have heard that bootleg, or know where’s the sample from?

Cheers!

Spottswoode: Really? Have you seen a man eat his own head?
Gary Johnston: No.
Spottswoode: So then, you haven’t seen everything.

Cairo… That’s in Egypt. - Possibly the funniest bit

Freaky…

I think that ‘test’ is ‘cast’ as it seems that someone (a priest, maybe evil ;) is cursing satan out of someone). I also think that this might be out of movie like The Exorcist…

cast out (syn: expel, dislodge, drive out, eject, evict, exile, expatriate, oust, throw out)

I didn’t expect her to scream
I mean, I wasn’t gonna rape her or take her money, I was only gonna kill her

These people confuse sex and aggression, they can’t differentiate between the two

I just think we live in such a violent society

We’ve got 35 or more people out there now, killing 20 and 30 people each

Like if I had my .38 right now, I could make you do just about anything I wanted you to - just about all my life people have been doing that to me

Back in the past it didn’t seem as real, it was never one of those things that could happen to you
