I’m in London 8/10-8/17 —- suggestions needed!!

hey i’m coming to London with my gurl from 9 to 17 august.

just wondering if someone has some good hints for me, i’ve been there 7 years ago for *one* day and really i don’t know where the fuck to go.

*ah, yeah: i booked the flight before all the happenings… i really hope to come back to lovely italy all ok…*

so, i’m very pissed about the arrival of my flight: i’m landing in Luton airport at 23:50, i’m gonna catch a train to king’s cross at 1.06 and (hope) to find out where to sleep for 3 o’clock…
i looked severals hotels in london and i realize that with my *poor* budget i can only afford a (not very cheap) hostel… so, surfing on the web i found that “Generator London” (that is near king’s cross) that really looks to be cool (about £28 each person for a twin room - it tooks me 1 hour to explain my girl that we won’t have a shower in our room… ). if someone knows a better/cheaper accomodation please tell me!! :p i think i’m gonna book only 2 or 3 nights…

Soooo… i bought a guide of london, yeah, i read about all places to see, i read about restaurants, pubs, etc etc..

but still i have no idea how to plan my days up there…
so, any tip is welcome!! tell me some cool places to go (any kind!: from museums to discos, clubs, pubs, restaurants, cafes, markets etc..)

i also wondered (ahhhh it would be great!) to go to T? gig the 12th… ok it’s 3 hours of train… ok £15 for train ticket but… £45 TICKET ENTRANCE?!?! sorry T?, we’ll see next time…

ah, last thing:
can you tell me some average UK prices? lots of guys told me that england (expecially london) isn’t very cheap… so…
how much for:
- a pint of beer
- a big mac menu
- a pack of luckies
- diner on a medium restaurant
- a toast/sandwich in a cafe
- an *espresso* coffe (i can’t live without ;))
- ask for informations :p

THANX A LOT FOR YOUR ANSWERS!!!

PS: don’t worry london drivers, i’m not coming by car, and i’m not gonna rent one!!

Go to the Electric Ballroom in Camden. Great club. Always go there when I’m in town.
As for hostels, I always just drop my bags off somewhere and pick them up when I’m leaving the next night sometime. Just drink lots of cappuchinos.
I have no real advice for you other than to try and see the city in the early morning. Between 0500 and 0700, before the city wakes up. Then you can visit everything at your own leisure and do the sightseeing without the infernal tourists running around everywhere. It’s the best time of the day in London. It’s like 28 days later then.

cigarettes: bring your OWN!!!!!

Only reason for me to go to London would be a football match, other than that it’s way too expensive.

You might wanna do some sightseeing in East London? Some vinyl can be found in the Notting Hill area.

And yeah, don’t run if someone shouts “Stop”

If you like Thai food there is a reasonably priced Thai resturant on St annes court just off dean street in soho. It’s called Soho Thai (fancy that) foods great and it won’t break the bank too much. Also Pizza express isn’t to expensive thats on dean street as well.
Your looking at £2.80 roughly for a pint but more pubs in london have special offers for the cheap drinks. If you like you food and drink in a none atmospheric place then we have weatherspoons pubs which are cheap but dull.

Camdens good fun the worlds end is a alright pub and there is plenty of shops and stuff to do.

Don’t ever get sandwedges from Leicester square or Picadilly circus as they will be a major rip off and also shit. Go into soho there i plenty of cheap and good cafes. The more touristy it is the the more expensive and shit the food is.

and have fun

Go to Wardour Street and find a place called The Intrepid Fox. Hard to miss, has a big gargoyle on the door. Fucking great bar.

Stratford is quite a distance from London, ain’t it?

I stayed in Stratford last year for a Advanced Higher English trip to see two Shakespeare plays. Didn’t really see a lot of the town, but it was a pretty nice place when it was sunny. (Hmmm…I’m rambling a bit). In conclusion, Stratford is nice. :D
