Nah…what’s your problem? Who cares if something is commercial or not? Krezip is a cute band, nice music to whistle to. Not that I really care about them. And who cares about girls coming down for Kane. Did you ever see a Silverchair concert..? Besides If you’d really stand out for your principals you wouldn’t bother going there if T? was on the same list. And btw Fred Durst said on MTV once: ‘You know it, I know it - Limp Bizkit sucks, let’s just forget about it’

Just listen to it once again, I’m talking about the guitars that return every time. The guitars resemble the guitars in the beginning of Jude The Obscene very much.
This is not the only piece of music she stole though. Listen to The Dark, I can’t help noticing that again the guitars sound very familiar to me. If you listen carefully, you’ll find out that the guitars are almost identical to Skunk Anansie’s Weak, at least in the beginning.
I don’t care whether bands are commercial or not, I quite like Offspring, Bush, and Foo Fighters, for instance. But there are some bands just in it for the money. Ever since Krezip signed for Columbia, every song I heard sounded like crap. Their first album, the demo Run Around, was pretty good, I thought. But then I heard I Would Stay like ten times a day when I was enjoying my vacation in Spain. Since then, I can’t stand them. And Kane just can’t seem to find their own style. I mean, why do a whole U2 concert? Probably because their own music stinks. And the voice of the singer, Dinand Woesthoff or something, isn’t that low as when he sings. He just wants to sing like Eddie Vedder does, but Eddie Vedder has a really low voice, even when he speaks.
I rest my case…

Well, as curious as I am, I also listened to ‘The Sand’, but I really can’t hear it. So, yes the guitars ‘come in’ the same way as JTO, but there truly are differend chords.
I mean, how many records do you own?
I mean, I know a million songs that have a C,G,A chord progression over and over again, but it’s singing-line that makes the song unique.
So I don’t Anouk blame of stealing anything.
I have a few Bad Religion records and all the songs sound the same, have the same chords, but I still like all of them.
You cannot make a unique song these days. Just make it a good song!

Anyway, what’s that thing about Krezip selling out?
That’s bollocks!!!
I mean they are only 17/18 years old. What would you do if you were able to make a record for a big company. Who gives you support (MONEY!) and a good position to play in places where you could only dream of? They write their music themselves and they do not do a bad job for a couple of ‘kids’.
The succes of ‘I would stay’ was never intended.

On the Kane issue: Yes, I don’t like them, but I don’t care.
They just made ONE fuckin’ album (is this true?).
I can’t judge bands on just one record. Let them grow and see what they do in the future.
I’m sure they find their own sound.

Yeah. For instance The Cure. They made a remix album once, its called Mixed Up and it contains versions of older Cure songs remixed. This is about the first whole album of the Cure I ever heard. When I listened to the originals I think the remixes were better, and I still feel that way.

where abouts is pinkpop?

Ok, I respect your opinions, I don’t know shit about chords, but I hear the resemblance with JTO.
About Krezip: Sure, they’re young, and they write their own songs, I believe, so that really speaks in favour of them. Maybe I am a little to harsh about Krezip, they do have talent, I just don’t really like their music.
About Kane: Again, I agree that Kane has a lot of potential, but with all their songs released on single, I just missed that thing that makes me think: wow! They should look more for their own style, I guess.
And I still hate Anouk, not just her music, but also the person. But that’s something personal, I guess.
Pinkpop does have and had some good bands in their line-up, like Pearl Jam, their ‘92 appearance proved to be legendary. But I like smaller gigs, with one band and some supporting bands, better. With these gigs, the real fans are there, which gives a much better atmosphere. Isn’t it really cool when hundreds of people know almost every song, and scream along with the lyrics? I think it is.

I think it’s the over-exposure that these bands get.
The only way to get rid of this; ‘Don’t listen to the radio or watch TMF!’. I mean I see the same videos over and over again and because I know all these songs I’m really not thrilled to by a complete album.
I have to admint ‘I would stay’ is a good song but I wouldn’t go out and buy it because I’ve heard 10000 fuckin’ times! I Agree!
But ‘most’ people only hear ‘popular’/chart music and think it’s the best the music buissiness has to offer.
Same reason for Anouk. I mean I’ve heard all the singles a dozen times and to buy an album could make me very ill.
Anyway, I hate Kane too…I think there’s really nothing special in their music and it’s rather dull. They tend to build their songs up to a sort of climax (Like Live or U2 for example) but they fail.
In my opinion…

And yes, I prefer small gigs too. I’ve been to pinkpop once and only the little tent was really good. (Heather Nova, John Spencer Blues Explosion). The sound on the main stage just blew away from years through the wind, and all I saw was the little white sneekers of Mr. Robbie Williams! (Aargh!)

And, Unbeliever, The bassline of Lovesong is one of the best I’ve ever layed my ears on. It’s fuckin’ brilliant.
I prefer the ‘normal’ version myself (That’s the first one I’ve heard) but it’s way too short. I always play it 5 times after each other.
And Facination Street has a great bass line as well!
If you have not, buy the two compilation CDs of the Cure.

Is Bloodflowers any good?
I’m intending spending (wasting) my hard earned cash on it.

Radiohead, 3 Doors Down, Limp Bizkit, Krezip, Spearhead, Queens Of The Stone Age, K’s Choice, Das Pop, Zita Swoon, Papa Roach, Green Lizard, Ziggy Marley, Orbital, St.-Germain, Radiohead, Limp Bizkit, Manic Street Preachers, 3 Doors Down, Basement Jaxx, The Offspring, Anouk, The Postmen, Sunna, Tool, Tindersticks, Stereophonics, Toploader, Semisonic; do you think this is any good?

It just looks good old pinkpop line up to me.

Oh and, Michael, you’re prediction was right (read above) indeed: Anouk, Krezip, but ‘sadly’ no Kane..haha..althoug they will replace 3 Doors Down just right at the end, just to pester you.

Don’t worry, I will stay faaaaar away from Pinkpop. There are just a few bands that I actually like. And of course Krezip and Anouk will stop by, it surprises me that Kane is not in the line-up! All three of them are pretty popular in Holland. I believe Kane played really bad last year (so I heard…), that might be the reason why they won’t play this year. And I think the Krezip-hype is fading, I mean, their previous single wasn’t successful at all, and their new single is an ‘I Would Stay’ look-a-like (been there, done that…). It’s a shame that there aren’t more American bands, I’d love to see some bands like Fuel, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Lucky 7, etc. once on a festival.

I don’t like Deftones, that’s a bit too loud for me. But I think Linkin Park is pretty good, yeah. This is mostly based on Hybrid Theory, which is a superb album. Unfortunately, I heard from someone that they suck live, so it might be better that they don’t play at Pinkpop.
Has anybody heard of Feeder, btw? I listened to their new album, Echo Park, and it sounds superbly! Their previous albums, Polythene and Yesterday Went Too Soon, were great too, so this band proved to be a good band, for me at least. Anyway, you should check hem out.
