I need to sort out a full time job and a flat london as i’m just getting bored where I am.
I’m going to start doing some research on this whole Label thing as I am interested. I just need to get myself back in touch with whats happening.

I’d be really interested in setting up my own label, but as I said, I don’t really have that much hands-on experience. I worked in radio, but as far as a label I haven’t got a lot of experience from a practical perspective.

It all depends on what sort of labal you want to be, and how much you want the distrubution to be involved. It’s quite complicated, the one I did was straight forward mainly stuff pressed and sold at gigs or mail order so no middle men involved. But that way you normaly make even if lucky, The distributers can do a deal were they press and market the release as well but they take a bigger % and more clauses to look after there investment. The less they do the more control you have. It gives me a headache thinking about it. But when it works and you see something out there it’s all worth it.

Well, I understand stuff like that cos I’ve studied it, but I meant more on the day-to-day side of things I don’t really know who does what at a label. I understand what the different departments do, but that’s about it.

Oh yeah that whole masters degree thing…whoops sorry!
I will have a chat to my friend at EMI and she can’t fill me in on anything I don’t know.
On a small level it’s quite easy, you don’t need many people. You just spend alot of the time on the phone. Once you have got art work and your music master done, and sent of to the pressing plant (we used to use one in prague as it was cheaper) and then spent our time phoning hmv/virgin and other record shops seeing if they would stock it and working out % for doing so. Thats about as far as I got before i stopped. But most record shops are cool and will stock peoples cd’s. It’s just easier if you have another company delivering the stock and taking payment. But I’m sure you know all this. You only need departments when you have lot’s of bands.

Title: Baron Chandler
In me and my mate choppers pissed state, we went online and bought ourselves titles of nobility. I don’t remember doing this but he had a confimation this morning saying that it could take seven days to sort out the paper work and then we can use the Titles Baron. Baron is the lowest of the noble men and we could have chosen duke or lord but I guess baron sounded cooler. My mate paid about £300 for both titles, but I’m going to see if he can cancel mine, but he wants to keep his. Personaly I think it’s a load of shit but he is sure we can use the titles. What a strange night:)
AlsoI don’t know why I was going on about wheres wally?

I will see if he can look at the history page and find out what site it was.
He said it even has a comments page on the site and someone who took the title lord wrote “since using the title lord I have been able to get tables at the best resturants and the service is much better, also they put us in the area of the resturant away from the commoners!” which is great they are probably a couple from croydon:D
