The Metrosexual Thread

#

Started by motherh666

Yes folks, it seems the beard and piercing threads have been so exciting I thought I’d start one for ‘Grooming the modern man’. Leave your tales of self-cleansing, de-hairing and generally being a big girl.

I’ll start it off. I spent fucking 25 euros on some razorblades and a face-scrub the other day. Fucking hell.

The whole things? I do admit, I try to avoid having my eyebrows join each other and I have recently noticed how they are trying to join up with my temples too. Sneaky bastards.

So if you want to pass to any rollercoaster without waiting in line, find the clown (looks like ronald mcdonald), tell him that you’re from WOM.

And don’t forget to leave a bottle of beer in the dressing room!!!!

I am without a doubt, the biggest metrosexual I know.

I have about 3 different moisturizers from Clinique - one for after-shave care, one for my around my eyes and one to reduce fine lines.

After I shave, apply a facial scrubbing lotion (also Clinique) to get rid of dead skin cells. I also use it in the evening. Twice a week I use a face-mask from Body Shop to get rid of further impurities.

I also have an icepack-mask thingy, but I seldom use it.

I watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy religiously and have thanks to the fab 5 bought a vast array of snazzy clothes that always get me compliments from females.

I bleach my teeth using one of those self-bleaching kits. It really works, which is pretty cool.

Right, off to the gym. Toodles.

Ahahaha not quite, but the irony has not been lost on my brother who calls me Patrick Bateman all the time. The reason why I fuss over all the skincare stuff is because I had really really bad skin as a teenager, so bad I had to get a prescription ointment based on sulphur to deal with it. My skin’s still pretty greasy, so this extensive routine is the only way for me to not look like a complete pizza face.

I found out a few years ago that after you shave your beard it is really soothing and relaxing to have aftershave-balsam as all those aftershaves are so “hard” on the poor chin that has been molested. Now I use balsam everytime I shave and can suggest that to anyone who finds shaving annoying just because of that irritation.

And yes JSar666 you are the biggest metrosexual on WoM if the judgement is based on this thread… :D

Jesus Christ your bathroom must look like a small chain of boots!

But full respect to amitting to it.:D Your face must be as smooth as a babys bum just less clamy.

I should probably do more than I do but never have the time. While I was in singapore a friend owns a male beauty shop and taught me the right way to clense and moustier, didn’t relalise that there was a right and wrong way to do it.

I don’t actually have a manbag.. well, I got two for Christmas, but I couldn’t bring myself to wear either of them outside. It’s too girly. It’s a green Gola I usually have my HP laptop rucksack with me, which gets me nerdy looks, but I don’t care. Computers are cool, dammit! I might have gotten a manbag if they didn’t look so damn girly.

My nails are always cut down to the cuticles too because I feel they get in the way of my guitar-playing.

But to boost my metro-points, I did get a loofa (sp) thing to scrub my back when I had really bad skin there last year, but thankfully that’s subsided. Ooh, and I have a Body Shop membership card!

Yeah. Oh, and the stuff I listed is just the stuff I use on a regular basis. I also have a giftset of male grooming products from Zirh and some Swiss brand I can’t remember what’s called. I went to stay with a friend for a few days and he said he’d never seen a man with that much cosmetics.

Metro and proud.

Both Christmas gifts, but they do look pricey, yeah. The thing about all my products is that it lasts for ages, maybe 2-3 months, so when you look at it from a usage point of view, it only costs a little each day.

Sam - well done :D I was considering getting a bowling-ball bag and using that as a man-bag.

Actually I don’t need manicure on my fingernails as I have it as “built-in-me” they are called teeth… :)
