Well i had my mcoreintation today

they showed me some cheesy videos about magic moments and the ilk

guess who popped up in one of them?

only harold from neighbours

he played a customer in an australian reasturant where everyone seemed to smile and help each other out.

what a distorted reality.

i saw a film with him in it years ago.
it was called body melt and was about some drugs company that was testing some new drug on a town in australia, but it ended up fucking people up and sending their metabolism mental to the point where their body started to melt […wait a second…body…melt…now i get it]
harold just played some dude who spouted profanities i think but the film was pretty good in a bad taste [the film] kind of way

anyway, are you sure it wasnt just an episode of neighbours that they showed you grant?

Gimme Back My Brainsaw wrote:

seems like that could be out of any episode of neighbours from what i remember

I used to work in a Lloyds No 1 bar with a DJMatic 2000 music generator. It used to really enjoy playing JT’s homage to deepfried calorific goodness.

At the time we were still promoting the Sorry Ronnie burger meal, which was supposed to be like a McDonalds meal, but better cos it was cheaper and you got beer instead of fizzy sugar water.

Thought it was dead funny that they picked that song all the time.

I also thought it was very funny when it started playing Tsunami by the Manics first thing on the morning of 27th December 2004

well done gimme, and remember: as long as nobody gets hurt and you keep your clothes on, all will be fine.

I’m leaving for cyprus this afternoon, and a funny thing happened, my garagedoor is blocked, so the car can’t get out. Normally not a problem, I would take the train, but guess what, they’re on strike, and going by bus is no option, bad connection. because of the train strike, the roads around brussels are clogged up, so I have to leave with my grandfather in half an hour to be sure that i’m in the airport by noon (it will be 9.30 by then), normally it takes half an hour, but now, with 30 km of traffic jams, I hope we will get there in time. It’s one of those days…

so have I missed anything?

Aaargh. NOW I remember why I came here…

I woke up this morning pondering and old argument about the nature of truth and whether there is an absolute truth. An absolute truth being a no grey areas, binary digit absolute matter of fact unarguable truth. I believe there is, but that we can’t possibly expect ever to understand it, let alone know it, because our attempts at knowledge and understanding are constrained entirely by the hardwiring of the consciousness that defines our humanity.

Then I thought “shit - maybe there ISN’T a hardwiring of consciousness that defines our humanity” and panicked for a bit because that underpins pretty much everything I believe.

And then I thought “Noam Chomsky. Sounds a bit like ‘Gnome Chomsky’, which cheered me up no end :D

Right. Off to work.

Morning Gav :)

I studied Noam Chomsky at university.

Alas, it wasn’t his conspiracy theory political stuff, it was his earlier work as a linguistic expert. (Something what I won’t never be myself, like.)

@Mummy - There is an obective/absolute truth but we can’t ever know it because everything we take in is subject to interpretation, and by interpreting it we immediately lost the objectivity. I think that’s what you mean, and if it is then I agree :)

Yes. You’d be surprised how much ground-breaking work has been carried out to enrich our understanding of how language works and develops by fictitious characters from US sitcoms.

For example, some very exciting theories regarding word etymology have been postulated by “Dennis Finch” off Just Shoot Me.
