I like dark side of the moon, Meddle and wish you were here. But alot of there other stuff is toss, I think the wall is one of the most over rated and boring albums. Piper at the gates of dawn is quite inetersting but i don’t own it. I have just finished reading the book inside out by nick mason (the drummer) which is very funny and quite interesting. But i won’t buy anything else by them as they aren’t a band that i’m that interested in.

From a sound point of view Dark Side is fantastic for the time and hasn’t really aged:)

you took the words out of my mouth.

dark side of the moon was released in 1973. It still sounds brilliant!
About how many records of mid seveties would you be able to say the same?!

Piper At The Gates Of Dawn - in a word, a masterpiece. I had heard the Wall and Dark Side…, but boy, this album blows them out of the water.

Echos is good cause its got See Emily Play and Arnold Lane on it.

Get any Floyd with Syd on it.

Piper At The Gates Of Dawn blows the rest of their catalogue out of the water. It’s imaginative, it’s fun, it shows the band being creative and enjoying themselves. After that they slowly became more and more boring, relying further and further on slow, slick guitar solos and choking shiny production to cover up for the lack of passion and feeling at the heart of the music.
That said, Dark Side’s got some great songs on it.

Animals has been in heavy rotation for me lately, especially the song Dogs. Really dark and bleak.

Zappa- he even managed to sound good in the 80s, for god sake. Y’know, like Alice Cooper and Maiden didn’t?

Floyd are awesome, I love The Wall (well, bits of it- I agree it can get boring for a while, but some of the songs really make up for it). Dark Side is great, solid, and I think it’s the studio production as much as the musicality that gives it timeless genius. Meddle; brilliant. Wish you were here; pretty damn good. Division Bell is also fantastic. Animals is great. I think that’s all I’ve heard…

Zep have a lot of good music, but I don’t really get “balls” being a particularly good point to judge music. Quite a bit of Zep’s music is shit, no matter how much balls they have. If they don’t have the songs to work with then all the balls in the world won’t make them more listenable.

I’d go for The Wall movie on DVD. Watch it with the lights out after a couple of joints. Some quality moments!
