I don’t really think of T? as a political band. There are references to NI in some songs but it’s not something major coming from the band I don’t think. I remember years ago they pointed out they were a band of mixed faiths and if they could manage to get along just fine, so should everyone else be able to.

I remember once Andy said “We’re the first band from Ireland which is not abusun IRA” or something like that.

I couldn’t learn anything from T? about Ireland, as they speak awful English accent!! (In Istanbul show Andy said: “Sorry my Turkish is awful… also, my English is awful ‘cause I’m from Ireland”)

After T?, I got more interested in Ireland, especially the geography. Carry Mountains, Cork, Belfast, bla bla.. and also thanks to Therapy?, I know a town called LARNE!!!

That’s great! I know they don’t want to be considered as a political band, as i said before i sent them a letter to ask a few questions and they answered and he wrote i quote “I don’t really see us as cultural ambassador , that would be a bit pompous but i feel it’s good to have our band redress the sometimes negative image of NI.”

So it is really interesting for me to know what you learn from them, from their music and of course we learn stuff!

Have a look at the potatoe junkie lyrics. It seems to me that there is a lot of criticism in there…

I can hardly remember, but during their spyf tour, when the played in Vienna, Andy said something like: “Im a protestant and this guy (pointing at Michael) is a catholic, but he’s the f* best friend, i’ve ever had”.
Maybe he said it vice versa, but nevertheless this was just one of several moments during live concerts, where T? refered to the NI conflict.

Pretty good indication of NI life influencing a T? song. Also this bit from “Bad Mother” is about NI:

“The vicious vulgar colours clash, like the twelfth day of July

12 July is the biggest day of Orange marches here. Or this bit from “Shitkicker”:

“I’m the king of this town
Don’t you fuck me around

My people never be free”

Sounds like it’s about local paramilitary hoods ruining the lives of the people they claim to protect. There’s always a danger of reading too much into the lyrics, but this bit from “Church Of Noise”:

“Red skies, summer marches on
We should go away together, mongrels in a mess forever”

I also think is about NI - orange marches in the summer again, a “Mongrel” (which crops up a lot in Therapy? lyrics) I take to mean the offspring of an inter-religious relationship… also look at the sectarian taxis pic on the semi detached sleave.

They were the main reason we went to Dublin and Belfast so yes… besides rock we also enjoyed some culture in those cities :cool:

And we experienced that the Irish are really friendly people, although we already kind of knew that but nevertheless it was cool to see it confirmed again.

Being from Ireland myself Therapy? didn’t teach me anything I don’t already know I personally don’t see a difference between North and South apart from the money which is annoying the people are mostly the same friendlynesswise (Thats probbaly not even a word) and the way they act, but I have a have a few very strongly Republician minded people I know who say things like all Northern Irish are Protestest Unionist scum and absolute bullshit like that but listen to bands like Therapy? and not care about religion and all that secterian crap i think Music is a medium that unites people all around the world whatever colour or creed they are it doesn’t matter and Therapy? are a band that expresses real life, fun and other things that people can relate to thats what make T? a great band. ;) (I went whey off topic there oh well)
