Do You Owe Therapy? A Thank You?

#

Started by andys gibson sg (James Harris)

I feel I do. When just before the release of NANE I was suffering a great deal of depression and was in hospital for my causes. The release of that record was a big boost and has certainly lifted my spirits ever since. A very touching moment for me I suppose, hearing that at the time I did.

So I guess thats my personal ‘thank you’ to the band.

Do you have a thankful Therapy? related message/story to tell?

I don’t know do I “owe” them something, but I’m surely thankful for them being there.

If they wouldn’t, a lot of things would be different in my life. I wouldn’t have met a bunch of extremely nice people in face to face, wouldn’t e-mail also a numerous girls and boys who are ace and what I’m mostly greatful to T? is that I wouldn’t met my lovely girlfriend, moved to another city, bought a house, have a dog, etc. if there wasn’t T? So I will (and have) take the hat off my head and bow deeply to show my appreciation.

A couple of years ago I was out of work and having trouble finding a new job, having arguments with my girlfriend and living at my sister’s. Radiohead released Hail to the Thief and that was rubbish. Therapy? annouce a new album but I knew it wouldn’t be much cop because they’d been going for ages and all bands sell out eventually…

First time I heard If It Kills Me, I just sat there with a massive grin on my face - whatever else was bugging me, my favourite band failed most spectacularly to let me down. When HA came out, I loved it. Although my life was hradly tough-tough at the time, they were a silver lining when I needed one.

It’s a common experience, I believe. :)

When I first heard Therapy? I was depressed. And I’m still depressed now. But at least I had something cool to listen to all those years. :D So thanks for that.

same here, and I bet we’re not the only two people who have met their girl- or boyfriend thanks to T?.

So yeah, indirectly they have been responsable for all the life changing moments in my life (meeting love of my life, moving to a different city far away from my lovely mom, building a house, living happily ever after really :))

We wouldn’t have met either if there wasn’t that little boogie band from Texas, ehrm, I mean Larne. I confused ZZ Top to Therapy? :D

:) I own them a big thank you in a way of “saving my life” and helping me through a very difficult period of life. Also their music have helped me to look at this crazy world in a new kinda way and not to take stress out of little things..
Motörhead`s Lemmy has been my father almost all of my life (since 79`) but Andy`s been my “therapist” since the early 90`s. Those two musicans/songwriters will always have a place in my heart and I have lived through good and bad times with them and I´ll continue living, hopefully mostly good times:)
Thanks to T?, I have also met guys who I think, I´d normally wouldn´t have met. Also have got e-mail friends through the whole globe.
So Therapy?; THANK U VERY MUCH OF BEING AROUND!!!

They´re Unique!

…In the sense of:
-Rocking strong with lot´s of humour
-Taking their music serious, but not themselves too much
-You always leave their concert´s with a smile on your face!
-T? Fans are very nice to be around and meet, always easy-going and cheerful…
- Well, You get all that negative energy out and trade it to some positive vibes, while attending a concert or listening to a T?-CD or DVD…
- They Mix up their music with maniac-speed-metal-punk to massive riffy 70:s disco punk´n roll to big monster rock-ballads without sounding too much like th scorpions…
Well, Therapy? Has MY BIG THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Most of all, CHEERS for sticking and hanging around on the Roads for all these years…not many bands would do…!!!
Keep on coming back to your small Rock-clubs and to your Big festivals…they got it all…Cheers for another 20 years!!!:-)))))))))))))))))))))

I was sacked in september - the company wanted to get rid of me 6 months before, but everything was drawn out, court case etc.

Needless to say, I felt like shit. But then Andy hooked me up with a photo pass and all the trimmings for the Rock Ternat festival. I basically got to see one of my favourite bands for free, and take photos, and see loads of other cool bands to boot.

So if any of you guys are reading this - thanks. I really appreciate it. You know who you are.

Do they owe me a thank you, no, cause I OWE THEM A THANK YOU. I’ve had many rough years now, and they got me through it. I’ve been inspired by them to do my own thing, let it be in music or what I’m doing now, writing a novel.

I could say many things, but I owe them.

I do. I moved to Spain a few years back and it was really tough. Couldn’t speak the lingo, get a job etc… And to top it all a family member past away shortly after the move. Now, I wasn’t suicidal or madly depressed, but when things go wrong and you’re away from home the effect seems to be multiplied. It was around the same time I started getting back into T?. An hour or so with Troublegum or Pleasure Death would help me forget my woes and put a bit of pep back in my step. I listened to other bands too, but it was T?’s music that made it’s way into the cd player more than other bands.

Therapy? has become a huge part of my life. I found T? when I was in junior high, I was around 14 years old. At that point America was buried deep in the “grunge” sound. I didn’t think that there was anything new out there, then a friend lent me the soundtrack to Judgement Night. The movie was pants as was most of the soundtrack but, holy shit, when I heard “Come and Die” I was totally blown away by the music. I found out it was Therapy? and picked up Troublegum. It was just the mindfuck I needed at that point in my life. I quickly copied the cassette for my friend and we set about wearing both copies out. This was my sound, this was my music in every way, shape and form, and, unlike so many other bands, they just kept getting better as they went.

As far as I’m concerned, they are the be all end all.

All of the above.

Therapy? introduced me to the world of rock, punk and metal. I’ve never been the same since.

My T? tattoo is almost 10 years old now, and most people regret the tattoo they get when they were 16, not me though, I love it even more today.

Thanks for it all!

in fucking deed rock, punk and metal. Still digging all those styles after all those years with ever shifting weights but T?’s weight will never be questioned. As far as mindfucks go, it seems that because the lads were the first to ever fuck with my mind that I have been inocculated against quite a lot of music’s so called mindfucks. The only thing that recently really blew me away and caught me completely off guard was a drum n bass act: Panacea. I think quite some people with an interest in electronic music on this forum might like it, I recommend it anyway.

W00t, first post on WoM for over a year. Good to see nothing has changed and that all topics are derailed as usual.

Indeed, I think we all owe Therapy? a debt of grtitude. Before I first heard troublegum the only albums I owned were Ace of Base’s Happy Nation and Jive Bunny and The Mastermixers.

Now look where I am!

Keep it up lads, all we ask is an album every other year, and a tour and we’re happy
