Pitchshifter tour w/this is menace in London - Andy Cairns appearing?

#

Started by KJ Gould

I got this in an email from psirecords, and thought it might interest some of you who were into pitchshifter. Also This Is Menace have a slot on the london show, and I’m wondering if Andy Cairns will make an appearance like he did at the Menace mean fiddler show in December. Anyway, check this out:

PITCHSHIFTER Are Back From The Dead With FREE NEW MUSIC For Their Fans …

Long-standing UK underground cult heroes Pitchshifter are back with a vengeance and they come bearing sweet gifts.

When and Where
**********************
Pitchshifter will be returning to the UK live circuit in March of 2006 (after a 2 year hiatus) with their ‘Back From The Dead’ Tour at the following venues:
Tue 21 Mar: Glasgow QMU
Wed 22 Mar: Manchester Academy 2 (Drummer Jason Bowld’s Birthday Show)
Thu 23 Mar: Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms
Fri 24 Mar: London Astoria (Singer J.S.’s Birthday Show)
Sat 25 Mar: Nottingham Rock City

What?s New
**************
Every single ticket buying fan will get a FREE new Pitchshifter 6 track CD put in their hands at the show. You read that right:FREE NEW PITCHSHIFTER MATERIAL. The new Pitchshifter 6 track EP entitled ‘All For One And None For All’ features the first new material since 2001’s ‘PSI’ album. The CD features 2 brand new previously unreleased Pitchshifter songs, 3 brand new previously unreleased remixes and one special treat. There is no plan at this time for PSI Records to release the EP commercially. This is a strictly limited edition numbered CD.

Why
******
Says J.S. Clayden Pitchshifter frontman and PSI Records agent provocateur: “What’s the use of owning your own record label if you can’t give stuff away to your own fanbase? We’ve missed touring and we’ve missed the rabid UK fans. Our birthdays are the perfect excuse for a tour, and a tour is a perfect excuse to record some new material. It’s great to give something back to the fans for their continued loyalty, and what better way than new tunes for free?”

Who
******
Skindred: London and Notingham
This is Menace: London
Murder One: All dates
Architects: Portsmouth

So…another tour. Haven’t they had 2 farewell tours? Now a ‘back from the dead tour’.
Considering they have got progressively worse over the years, and keep telling the british public they are going for good, something makes me feel some of the fans are getting cheated out of their money.

Well, they never said they were gone for good. They went on hiatus to focus on other projects and areas of the music industry. They love to play live shows, but live shows cost money to do and they have to budget accordingly. And the ep is free to everyone who turns up to the gig with a ticket. But not only that, they can use their name recognition and bring on underground bands on tour with them to help give them exposure (compared to a lot of other bands that are lumped with support set up for the benefit of their booking agent, or a buy-on from a record label)

As for progressively worse, that’s only down to a matter of taste. Personally I like everything from Desensitized onwards, and bits and pieces off of Industrial and Submit.

I don’t care if there’s no-one else (seems to) like it, Infotainment is fucking great. I was listening to Phoenixology the other day, truly great.

I’ll be at the Nottingham one, for sure.

“Indefinite hiatus” was what the statement said wasn’t it? So whats with the farewell tour bit?

As for getting cheated, people are going to see a band they want to see. Hows that being cheated?

Progressively worse? Care to actually quantify that rather than just push an opinion as a truth of the world?

:p :D

No. They’ve had an official last tour (march 03)before the indefinate hiatus, a dvd release party tour (Oct 04) and are now gearing up for some birthday party shows, named Back From The Dead cos they know how to take the piss out fo themslevesfor beig old buggers these days.

to be honest, people are only bitching about them becasue they publicly annpunced they wouldn’t be workign together for a while, where as bands like Tool just take ages between albums without any onesyaing a thing, other than we wish they’d hurry up, though new album out this year.

and they could never cheat me out of money cos i love them and they deserve my money i got from the government.

I heard a rumour a couple of years ago that Mark Clayden was gonna play bass for Wildhearts, or was in the running, after pitchshifter went on hiatus. Don’t know how true that is.
