yeah I heard that they had confirmed a couple of weeks ago, don’t really know what to make of it I heard the leak of the song IRS and it isn’t that good. I think he should have made it a solo album instead of this it’s still gnr and he might get a bit less flak.

Only Axl is left from the original line-up no?

So “Guns N Roses” should actually be “Axl Rose band” or something like that.

Aw, C’mon people, its axl rose! AXL ROSE! I for one have missed the fucker, do you realise its been 15 years since the Illusion albums??! It can’t possibly be as bad as the shite that is velvet revolver. And besides, hearing the likes of Paradise city and all live, again, is something to rejoice i reckon.

He’s a legend!

well lets be honest, his names in the name, and he did buy the rights to the name, so you can’t say they shouldn’t be called GNR anymore! If thats the case then technically they should’ve dropped the Guns part when Tracii Guns left the band!

Nice one Divers! i’ll check it out later. :)

I saw them several times on the illusion tour(s), but i’d love to see ‘em again now. I just reckon that we should cherish folk like Axl, we’ve lost so many (Cobain, Buckley, Staley, etc) so its good to see him active again.

well the problem you’ve got is that we’ve been waiting 15 years for new stuff, so its never gonna live up to anyones expectations. This is assuming, of course, the albums coming out…;)

I thought the only reason that ‘rose’ was in the title was because they formed from the ashes of LA Guns and Hollywood Rose? Did William Bailey (sometimes hilariously called Bill Bailey) not come up with the pseudonym ‘Axl Rose’ after the band formed?

i really aint sure to be honest, i think it depends on what you read! :)

I just read years back that the rose was Axl and the guns was Tracii.

For me they went rapidly downhill after Steven Adler was sacked (Matt Sorum’s drumming = yeeeeuch)

All the same, I think it’s fair game for Rose to play the old songs still, I just think he should call himself something else or class it as a solo act. His name is famous enough for it to sell on the strength of that, rather than having to use “Guns n Roses”.

I also think bands should know when to stop. I was a huge fan of the Jam as a kid, and was gutted when they split up, but looking back at it now, I am glad Weller pulled the plug to leave the legacy intact, and much as I’d love to see reunion shows, well, you just know they’d be shite, yeah?

So I think it would have been better to have killed the GNR name off when Slash left, just to save a bit of dignity.

I’m gonna see them, just to say I have but i think Axl has lost his mind. He thinks he can come back with the same name and therefore exactly the same audience will be there waiting where he left off. I’m betting 99% of that audience have moved on by now…

…i’m betting they haven’t! The guy comes back after years away and straight away he’s headlining a festival! I’d say theres still an audience!

Didn’t GNR headline Reading a couple of years ago? Was it 2002? Apparently, the response was massive! I seem to remember them gettting a 10/10 review from Metal Hammer, or some other ‘trendy’ mag.

So, you’re probably right Dan!

Good points. I still reckon there will be loads of people there just of curiosity or nostalgia. I bet the new album doesn’t gain them any new fans. Just lots of hype and raving from people that should know better!

Ha! Thats too funny, and too true!

Having said that, I always kick myself for not seeing GnR back in the day, and Nirvana come to that, so I still think seeing them at Download could be awesome.

GnR didn’t play Reading festival a few years ago, only the Leeds leg, which was annoying coz I was at Reading. But my brother saw them there and said it really was a great show.

Bring it on I say, Metallica, Korn, Deftones, Trivium, GnR, Prodigy. Sounds like fun to me. They just need to get T? on the bill again!

I have been very cynical about Gn’ R but my bro saw them at Leeds and has set me straight - apparently they were one of the best things he’s ever seen. They came on at 11 and had to pay £8,000 for every 15 mins they played past that time! Apparently Axl didn’t care and every time he was told to stop he told the powers that be to fuck off until they were finished. Rock N Roll!!

Who is singin for AIC?
