Fantastic album. Mark sounding like Johhny Cash in places. Not to keen on Isobel, but she provides some great backing on some songs.
‘Ramblin’ man’ and ‘Deus ibi est’ are my faviroutes.

I know about it, it’s part of the trilogy along with the winding sheet, i just have never got round to getting it. but it will be done, i do sort of like his rougher voice these days.

I agree.
I think the solo stuff is the best thing he’s done. The QOTSA stuff he’s done is his weakest, yet still great.
Better than Screaming trees? In my opinion, yes it is!

i was on it yesterday very good stuff.
I do like his solo stuff more than his other ventures, screaming trees did do some duffers but they also did some classics. I don’t quite agree that the queens stuff being his weakest, i rate “in the fade” as one of the best songs that i feel he has sang on and”song for the dead” is fantastic and for once he had the musical power behind his voice that the trees sometimes lacked.

The mad season album that he did wasn’t that good. I would go for that one i enjoyed the lanegan band stuff (i take it you mean bubblegum?) it was quite Tom waits in production.

Yep, Bubblegum. I don’t know why, I just didn’t enjoy that album very much.Probably the fact that there was so many collaborations on there. I like just Lanegan on his own.

A friend of mine sent me three songs,Black Mountain,(Do You Wanna…and Honey Child…I think Black Mountain is great and Honey Child is cool but I don’t really care for the way she sings in Do You Wanna…sounds like she gets off at times.Mark’s vocals are perfect.Everyone should own Screaming Trees Buzz Factory. That is a perfect album,Probably their best. It’s on SST.

Lanegan’s pretty fucking cool, although Campbell is my favourite part of the album. Love her voice. Great record.

Haven’t listened to that new album, yet, but I strongly disagree that QOTSA or Mad Season have been Lanegan’s weakest project. “Long Gone Day” is an amazingly haunting song. The combination of Layne Staley and Mark Lanegan is magical! And as someone else already said, QOTSA were the first band to properly back up Lanegan’s great voice.

Screaming Trees had their moments (“Witness”, “Sworn And Broken”, for example), but they were hit and miss. Personally, I’m not too fond of the solo stuff Lanegan has recorded. There’s one great song he covered, though. It’s called “Death Don’t Have No Mercy”. See if you can find it!

This is a great album. The day I heard it at my bands studio was driving home and Isobell came on the radio - weird! Good album anyway, i don’t like QOTSA anymore but Mark did do a better job than JOsh’s murmurings i thought.
