Epiphone

Hi,

I’m going to have a new guitar, but for those who already know some Epiphone models, what do you think about these kind of guitars?

I have a Gibson SG Special and a Epiphone `62 SG and, to be honest, their`s not much difference in them. Epiphones are good guitars :)

I had an Epiphone bass that was a rip off of a T-bird and it was good although very neck heavy; you couldn’t stand up and play it! :)

I have a basic Epiphone acoustic It’s a pretty decent guitar although I have treated it like crap :( e.g dragging it around the country, throwing it around when I’m drunk etc etc etc etc…

Yep same here. Epiphones are fantastic in my opinion.

I have an epiphone G400, but upgraded to a proper Gibson SG last year. The Epiphone’s are definitely good guitars for your money, and if you get one of the slightly more expensive ones; (not the very cheapest ones) you can have a very nice guitar. The G400s are VERY neck heavy though, and tend to hit the floor if you let go of them…Luckily the Gibson doens’t do this at all…

If I were you, I’d look into a Parker P-42. If you vcan afford it, but can’t afford about £800 for a better guitar, go for it. Of course, try before you buy, but my mate has one of these, and it easily compares to my Gibson V, at near twice the price.

in my opinion, you have epiphone’s and epiphones… the cheap range is usually OK but they also have higher priced ones, which are great. here in Holland at my guitar-shop they sell the expensive range ones for prices for which you could also get a standard Gibson… see for yourself, and always TRY EXTENSIVELY before buying. I bought a epiphone les paul 3 years ago (mid-range price) and played on a few gibsons after that, and the gibsons were not as good…

the idea that a £3000 gutar is 3 times better than a £1000 guitar is a myth created by manufacturers to keep consumers in the dark (like everything in life!) and wanting to them to lust after more expensive guitars.

Did you know they have already invented a mobile phone that knows when you’re fridge is empty of beer and pre-orders you another case when you get low? (or pizza, or whatever you like), but they gradually bring in the new features over a number of years - thus maximising consumer spending levels? :p :) ;)

This is my main guitar and for some reason (I’ve had a few guitars on the years let me tell you) I keep coming back to this one - love it! :p

I have a phone that already does this… it indicates when I have drunk all the beer by becoming ‘lost’ and turning up a few days later…

Sorry, but I can’t stand Epiphone T-Birds… never played a Gibson one, but they’re all stiff and the fret/string spacing is crap. Well, I’m a slap-player so maybe that’s why…

i’d love to have an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra. Anyone else seen these? They have hollow cavities in the body, with a contour on the upper curve like a strat. and they have the natural finish necks, i.e. not varnished or glossed. beautiful things
