Rust

Anyone figured out Rust yet?
Ofcourse the part where Andy sings “I don’t know what I want…” is not that hard, but the riff? I figured out the tones, but the rythm? Is there a twist? Anyone mastered this song on guitar or bass?

Tough one this. But really the problem is only due to its speed. You know the 3 notes in the riff, just play them in that order and do not deviate. Start by playing the end version if you like as its slower and therefore easier to count.

Really easy- just alternate pick. Not that fast.

With riffs like that divide it up into groups of four, and then slightly accent the first of each group.

So it would be 0340 3403 4034 (but on both strings), and repeat.
Easy. :)

I’m pretty sure he’s only playing single notes.

WRONG!

T? Never play in Drop-C. Andy told me. The main riff’s all on one string.

Count 1 (2, 3) 2 (2, 3) 3 (2, 3) 4 (2, 3) in your head. make it easier.

Just one string? :( That’s not half as cool as three. In fact, it’s one-third of the cool-ness.

I have a Michael interview where he says that they’re main tuning these days IS drop C. (Basss Guitar Magazine)

There’s also a post by Michael in News somewhere where he said that they would be continuing to use the drop tunings like they did on HA.

Plus if its not drop C what is it???? Its not the C on the A string cos that would sound an octave too high…:o

I think you’re confusing the two, Buffalo Boy?

C Tuning:

Yes I second that Misanthropologist. They only used C tuning on the last two albums. (Some standard on HA)

Did they use Drop C on one of the songs from SPYF???

Other people’s misery???

I thought they did.

Sorry, i get it now! Surely Who Knows is drop C though? Just from the way the riff is played (alot like Unbeliever) its much easier to play over more than one string this way.

Not according to Michael, though maybe the guitar is in drop-c and the bass isn’t? I’m not sure about that.

Nope, it’s straight C. It’s playable in that. Not sure about ‘Other People’s Misery’, but I doubt it’s in Drop-C/
