Anyone else like these guys? I’m very excited! New album out this year http://www.chairpage.com

And the Dissociatives album is pretty good too if you like experimental art pop

I really liked that album with the frog on… Frogstomp or whatever it was called.

But “experimental art pop” does not sound good actually.

Didn’t know if they did a recent release after ‘Diorama’?

No, Diorama was the last thing they did…until now! Whoooo!!
The lyrics make me cringe sometimes but at least they’re a rock band who REALLY challenge the listener…unlike some ‘artists’ who talk about experimenting and then their new release sounds exactly the same as the last one only with a bigger production!

They released the brilliant From Faraway Stables quadruple live-CD/DVD set from the Diorama Tour.

A band for girls Mr Philth? What does a band for girls sound like?! I know girls that like Metallica and Cradle of Filth and boys that like cheesy pop. Music is for human beings.

I would describe Counting Crows, Vanessa Carlton, James Blunt and Maroon 5 as ideal girls music but certainly not Silverchair.

It’s not in stores anymore and on E-bay it goes about 50 Euro’s.

I see, bands that have images/songs that appeal to females. How patronising. Girls can like music too Mr Philth!

I found the live album on Amazon for £22, which is good, i’ll have that when i get paid! ;)

LMAO :D

I’m normally quite reserved when it comes to bands i don’t like, but owing to the fact i’ve recently bought up radiohead and had them slated, i feel i am owed one. :D

So, with that in mind, and for no reason other than blowing off some steam, i think silverchair are absolute fucking dogshite, piss poor nirvana copyists.

There, i feel better now.

I hope you can forgive me, BB! :D

Ha ha, thats cool! The days of arguing with mates as teenagers over bands finished long ago, only to be replaced by doing it on here! How FUN!

Any reasons for not liking them, i would be most interested?!! (‘Nirvana copyists’ is inaccurate so don’t bother using that one!)

:) x

Nah, to be fair i’ve only heard 1 song and hated it, and that was waaay back in the day when they were about 12. :)

So, essentially, i’ve based my judgement on not having heard their entire back catalogue. Ignorance is bliss. :D

Red Hot Chilli Peppers I hear have many girl fans.

Anyway, I dunno, I read an interview with someone the other day who called Bush a band for girls, and it just sounded right. I hold Silverchair in the same esteem.

I’m not syaing they’re shit or anything, they do have good songs and they’re obviously talented… just a bit pretty.

I don’t know man I’ve never really looked at a guy long enough to decide if he is pretty or not :D

Because your username is philth and i am presuming you are male!

Its quite hard to pull chicks at gigs i’ve found. Especially after groping them in the pit! :D (That was a joke!)

Ok, let me put it this was, Silverchair are the Josh Hartnett of rock.

Men can watch a Josh Hartnett film, say Pearl Harbour, and be entertained (even if only mildly), but a woman will watch a Josh Hartnett film, be entertained and also enjoy the sight of Josh Hartnett.

There for everyone to enjoy, but enjoyed by women more.

And yes, I am male, but there’s no need for formalities.

Oh well, at least they aren’t the Ben Affleck of rock. ;)
I’ll leave that one to Ville Valo :p
