Looking for funny British comedy shows

#

Started by Superunknown

I’ve absolutely LOVED “The Office”, “Extras” and “Spaced”. I thought “Coupling” was good for three seasons, although “Two Pints Of Lager (And A Packet Of Crisps) didn’t do much for me. And I hated, hated, hated “Little Britain” and still don’t get “The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen”.

Now what other Britcoms would you recommend to me? I’ve heard “Phoenix Nights” is good. Seen one episode of “Peep Show” and thought it was pretty weird. Not sure about “Mighty Boosh”, yet.

But I also like the League of Gentlemen (well, the first two series.)

Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps is fucking shit, it doesn’t even deserve to be on your list! And you should check out Alan Partridge!

As I am trapped here would you please tell Superunknown to watch ‘Human Remains’ and ‘The worst week of my life’ :D

He /she seems to have very similar taste to me, and both of those series were excellent.

But then I have a poor sense of humour.

:D

Phoenix Nights is good, I really liked Max & Paddy’s Road to Nowhere, which was a spin-off.

Have you watched any older British comedy? Like Faulty Towers or Blackadder?

That’s my absolute favourite episode of it :D

“oh, do yer remember? do yer remember when something happened when you were young? oooooooooh! Arnt my observations hilarious!”
yes i do remember the thing you just said, peter, it wasnt funny then and it isnt funny now.
lets hope he drinks more john smiths than his fat face can handle, and he dies of alcohol poisoning

along with little “we cant think of any new sketches so we will do the same thing every week” britain
i liked the first series, but fuck me, they are lazy writers

Most modern comedies are rubbish. That is a fact. The Office was genius tho. Bottom is the ruler! Who else can get away with slapstick like that these days?! And yes Red Dwarf I (used to) like, sorry i’m a geek! :)

That ginger guy who does Peep show and The Smoking room and stuff. What is up with him? Why can’t he write anything even remotely amusing? Who commissions the crap he writes?! Comedy for students. And people who want to pretend to be cutting edge and cool but haven’t got a clue. What a dreadful man, lets get him off our screens. The guy who did Nathan Barley is much better.

crap, i totally forgot about 15 storeys high! its awesome!
the best one is the ping pong episode
or blue rat…

i always thought ab fab was as dull as the royle family (ie very very dull). dont forget, women cant write comedy properly

bottom was funny when you were a kid and they used swear words and hit each other. looking back now, its a bit lazy. the young ones will always be the best thing rik and ade did
