I saw Hostel last week and dispite what pretty much everyone else has been saying, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were all unlikeable, but that probably added to the enjoyment of watching them get tortured/killed.

The director of that is doing Silent Hill. I’m worried :(

I do hope Silent Hill is as good as it should be - the trailer looks like a step in the right direction at least.
Nic Cage’s The Weatherman has to be the worst I’ve seen recently - comedy my arse!
Quite liked Blair Witch & Butterfly Effect :(

oh i totally agree, some aint half bad. But then others…well, love actually?? Fuck right off.
I really despised how that movie was so incredibly kitschy and “sweet”. And I hate that Ally McBeal kind of humour that was all over it. You know, stuff like “haha, Hugh Grant is making a funny dance… AND HE DOESN’T REALIZE HES BEING WATCHED!” ARRRRRRGGHHH! And they played “God Only Knows” to death at the end.
Still, it had some okay moments, like Bill Nighy’s part.

I dont know how far its gonna go for shock value any more - but it seems filmmakers are solely relying on gore and torture now instead of genuinely building up tension and suspense like Jaws.
If Jaws was made now it would be shit. No suspense, all gore.
Now I agree that “Jaws” is an unbeatable masterpiece, but actually I’m quite fond of gorey movies and I do think they can deliver some kind of tension or entertainment at least. “The Hills Have Eyes” or “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”-remake, for instance, were rather funny to watch, while “Wolf Creek” or “Cannibal Holocaust”, if you wanna go further back were genuinely disturbing while not being totally mindless, in my opinion.
Or maybe I’m just a sick guy who likes to watch torture :o:

Who agrees with this summary: Scream - Dawson’s Creek with knifes!
Oh and I hate in some stupid horror films when theres a group of people in trouble and you notice theres always one twat sitting alone on the floor, beside this group, holding their head going ‘oh my god! oh my god!!!’ etc etc instead of bloody helping out!

I’ve got my fingers crossed it should be OK. In one of the preview clips, Pyramid Head twists a woman’s body in two, rips of her skin, and throws it at the townsfolk who are trying to get inside the church. The camera cuts to the townsfolk’s point of view as blood pours down the camera. Hardly panderng for the kiddies!
I actually thought Resident Evil was OK - saw it about a month ago expecting absolutely NOTHING from the shit reviews it got at the time, but I thought it was alright

Think of it as fervourant wishing, but I do think the trailer looks promising.
Quite liked both Resi Evils - somewhat dumb but having not played the games I had no preconceptions.
Liked the DotD remake too - what’s wrong with it?
