The Distillers

#

Started by msd

Really been digging The Distillers recently despite never having paid them any attention before. Have Coral Fang and Sing Sing Death House, really like Brody Dalle’s (or Mrs Josh Homme’s :D) voice. Anyone else?

Sing Sing Death House is good as well…I prefer the punkier production actually.

Punk is sooooo 1977. And there’s still no future!

It would make for a more interesting post if people explained why they think things are “rubbish”…

eh? Is it me or does that not make sense?!!!!

I do not like the Distillers because:

- The music has all been done a million times before in that punky kind of way
- They offer nothing new
- An ugly tattoed woman shouting is highly unattractive to me
- Punk died looooong ago. Why are people STILL trying to copy it? It was about the having something to say about life and culture at the time to make yourself heard. Copying it 30 years later for entertainment/nostalgia trips is lame - unless you update it and make it your own. (i won’t name any bands/albums, because they will get slated now by Distillers fans!)

On the plus side they are talented, i just wish they would do something new and interesting!! :p

I bought Coral Fang and was quite disappointed with it. It’s not really a punk album. Drain The Blood is the punkest thing on there, the rest is just rock. The Hunger was good, had a bit of a 70s rock feel to it.

I thought the first album was pretty shit… i liked the last two though. Coral Fang was very commercal in comparrison to sing sing, but good songs… I was glad they started to sound less like rancid as i fucking hate them at times.
