Acoustic Sets Manchester / Nottingham

#

Started by MIKEHELL

Just confirmed two ‘acoustic in-stores’ for this weekend. First one is in Carbon(Marlet St inside Urban Outfitters) at 5pm on Friday 21st in Manchester and the 2nd is in the Nottingham Drum Centre(Southwell Rd) on Sat 22nd in Nottingham(surprise surprise)at 2:30pm.

We’ll be doing short sets of songs old and new plus hanging out and signing any stuff that folk want signed…see ye there…TPY?2006

nb:these won’t be full ‘electric’ performances so don’t bother shouting for “Animal Bones”

Will Neil be present and playing any kind of hitty- or strummy-thing, given the acoustic nature of the sets…?

Are you talking about the Lavery’s thing? I’d ask the venue, a lot of places are okay as long as you’re with an adult :)

All my troubles seemed so far away, now it looks as though they’re here to stay, i believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, i’m not half the man i used to be, there’s a shadow hanging over me, oh yesterday came suddenly !

The Nottingham gig was rather special. Andy’s phone going off between songs made me chuckle, especially after saying earlier “I’ve had to turn my phone off because I’ve got relatives in Nottingham and I’m expecting them to ring me”. I can’t really remember the set list, it was along the lines of (not in order!) Rain Hits Concrete, Knives (the jazzy version :D), Rise Up, Rock You Monkeys, Walk Through Darkness, Screamager and Nowhere (complete with hummed solo).

Whoohoo! :D Manchester was good! Started at 6.30 after the guys had been stuck in traffic and (from what brain I have left after the drinking in Jillys) I think the set went like this;

RHC
Rock You Monkeys
Nowhere
Rise Up
Walk Through Darkness
Screamager (which went wrong and required a restart)

Like I say I only think that was the order, the last two are definite.

It all went well and there was a good atmosphere despite the strange setup in the shop - most people were up on the third floor, a flight of stairs higher up than the band. There were a few people there taking pics and recording it but I don’t know what will surface of those.

On the goodies side there were posters and postcard type things after the set and a few people recieved exclusive free beers from Andy at the second session of signing gear in Jillys.

Look at that, all done in my best hungover writting style :o
