One moment - so does that mean that if I live in Ireland, that I won’t be able to get the track???
Please let me know man - if I can’t, I won’t install the shite until it is on the Irish iTunes.

Hey Teethgrinder, I too like iTunes, the application. The store is cool too, but sadly it makes distinctions between regions, but that’s thanks to the labels not Apple.
Anyway, iTunes is a free download. The songs you purchase on the iTnes Music Store however can be playen on upto 5 PCs/Macs, burned to CD unlimited times (the same playlist only 10 times), and put on an unlimited number of iPods. Other digital music devices are not supported with the protected aac file’s DRM, but you can always burn the songs to CD and then re/rip them into MP3 using iTunes or any other application that can rip CDs into MP3s.
As for the UK only billing address: if you can get someone to buy you a gift certificate for the UK store (pay him the money via paypal or whatever) you can set up a bogus account with some bogus UK address that will work, and you will be able to transfer the gift certificate’s ammount onto your account.
Not too legal, but it worked for me in the US store (since i’m a resident of Hungary where no bloody online music store is available).
Just make sure the gift certificate is for the email address that your account is on.
Hope this helps some. I for one am still waiting for the US iTunes store to have the new EP and LP cos I already have the money for them on the account.

Do you work for Apple or something???
It may be the record companies fault for playing along with iTunes “exclusive offers” spiel, but it is Apples fault for organising this shit aimed at all dedicated followers of fashion and hype that bought a bloody iPod!!! (rant over ;))
Finally, it is Apples fault that I have to install their software (even though I don’t want it) to download a song :p
Anyways, enough of this, just hope they get it on bloody iTunes globally so I can download the track and be done with it.

what i meant to say was that it’s not apple’s fault that there are different regions. it would be easier for them to have one central store. but the record labels have different licensing policies in different countries (like the region codes on DVDs, whoever thought that was a good idea).
yes, they require you to download their software, as it is a software based store, and not a web based one. ok, that’s their fault, still i find it is easier to navigate and faster than a web based store.

Yes, that is a disturbing thought, even more disturbing would be however if all future albums were “iTunes only”

If you believe some of what you read (about declining CD sales), that may be the situation with most labels..let alone bands.
I don’t see what all the hard-core complaining about iTunes is all about. I have a Zen, but I downloaded iTunes because they were giving away free songs with Mountain Dew. When it installs just say no, when it asks if you want it to be your default player.
That way the only time you see it, is when you specifically open it.
One annoying thing though, is they protect their MP3s, so what I end up having to do is burn them to a CD, and then re rip the CD with my Zen software. In the cases where I downloaded entire albums it’s no big deal since I’d want a copy of it on CD anyway..still.
I like the fact that T? is getting on iTunes because it’s probably cheaper for the label (and thus the band). Plus you could probably get people listening to them easier by telling someone to download such and such track. Where someone may resist buying a whole CD, they’d probably shell out the 99 cents for a download. If they get into it, they’d then buy the whole thing.
More importantly, this will probably be the only way they’ll get distributed in the US

I am very particular about what I do and dont install on my PC - I dont want or need loads of conflicting pieces of software “butt-fucking” each other.
I ‘stole’ the track cause the record people made it very difficult to buy. Its a great track, I would have loved to obtain it legitimately like I did with the Rain Hits Concrete single.
You can’t bitch about illegal downloading hurting the band, then pull stunts like this - you live by the sword, you can expect to die by it.
I hope this is a one-off.

Well,
In summary I don’t even mind that much that the stuff is on iTunes as long as I can get it somewhere else.
I would gladly download it an pay money, which at the moment is not technically possible as I am in Ireland. If I were in the UK, I would just install, get the track and get rid of the software later.
It pisses me off that they then throw the whole legal crap back at the band - it is iTunes only, don’t offer it anywhere else etc.
Like, excuse me if I am wrong, I don’t really see iTunes ripping their arses off to support this band in the way they would others (linkin park and all the other nu metal crap), so why should T? give into it?
Ah, late in the day and I am ranting. If this isn’t made available to people in Ireland soon, well I guess I will have to obtain the track in a way that doesn’t support the band.
On a final note, I don’t blame the band for any of this and can’t wait to see them in Dublin (incase this is misinterpreted as Therapy? bashing, which it is not :)).

I took this personally and as I haven’t download the 2 latest “singles” and haven’t bought OCFA, now I think that I never will. If the band/recordlabel/whoever acts like this and makes all the fans to stand in the different positions by releasing “this and that-region only track”, then they don’t need my support as I sure hell don’t need band who does that kind of decisions.
I have bought all the stuff since 1993 immidiately after the release and now you tell me that I can’t… I tried to support my (former, obviously) favourite band in anyway I could but this is enough for me.
Thanks for all the great years Therapy?, now it is time for me to move on to other section in the recordstores. Therapy?’s has been seen…
Thanks for all of you bearing with me all these years. I have made many great friends because of the band, I love you all!

Dude!
OCFA is in the shops (a real cd). The single is downloadable and if it wasn’t, there wouldn’t be a single at all. As Andy himself said in a different topic, the band was losing money with single (cd) releases. At least a download single allows us to get extra songs that we otherwise would never have heard. True, the different regions thing is a little messed up, but I don’t think the band were aware of this.
I think you’re taking this download thing a little too personally.
