OCFA what do you think?

I’m specifically looking at Divers, and anyone else who has a copy delivered early. Damn, I wish I had got it off play.com :p

Any good?

I only have a promo cd at the moment, and I will refrain from reviewing that on here again! :p

;)

I’m really enjoying it, I found NANE very instant in my liking of it. This album is one the more i hear it the more i like it. I will give a better opinion of it once i have done the walkman test of having it on repeat as i wander round town. There are only two songs that i think are weaker than the rest, but apart from that it’s business as usual:) Anyone not thinking of buying should rethink..So far Our white noise and walk through darkness are my favourites.

god bless play and the oxford mail service!

I just want to know if the drums are better on cd.
On the download, deluded son drums are barely audible in the chorus. :(

I can hear the drums…the snare isn’t as sharp as other albums and the guitars more in your face, but they aren’t getting that lost. I would say that the download would lose some of the clarity so hopefully you will be happier when you get the CD.

I was surprised this morning to find the new album already in record shops here in Holland so of course i bought it immediately.
Just listened to it for the first time and i must say WOW! When i first heared NANE i really had to get used to the sound of this album and it took a few sessions to appreciate it. I’ve listened to OCFA now and it appeals more to me sound and songwise than NANE. It combines the melodic stuff from High anxiety with the agression of NANE.
OCFA is an album which will grow on you the more you hear it (i think), but i’m really excited! Commence headbangin’!

It arrived this morning - wonderful play

Gotta say i love it, 12 tracks of pure bliss. Particularly loving Private Nobody, all in all a great album with absolutely no filler on it, can’t wait to see this live now!! easily a 9 or 9.5 / 10

Title: new album

The new album is very good. Therapy once again delivers an album in which they try new stuf but also an album which sticks to the roots of T?…just solid rock…something that we need in this time over over produced crapp music.

Sprung is one of the best songs but also deluded son is pretty cool. no week spots in this album…keep on going and keep them coming for the next few years.

Yeah, there’s some good pictures.

In fact they seem to have spent quite a lot of time over the whole inlay card. Very nice.

Top tunes:
Unconsoled
Our White Noise
Dopamine
Sprung

Possible weakest tracks:
Heart Beat Hits. (just doesn’t seem to go anywhere, and loses structure. Might grown on me though)
Private Nobody (Awesome verse, just don’t like the chorus)

I’m loving it, so far. I think I agree with poenkrokker about how it balances the meoldic side of HA with the aggression of NANE. It’s more refined and less primal than NANE, which is neither a good nor bad thing, for me. Some great riffs (100% Therapy?-style), and on the whole, Andy’s voice sounds particularly good.
My only negative (at the moment ;):p) is that generally speaking, with a few exceptions, I don’t like choruses which are just the same line repeated over, and OCFA has a lot of these. It’s a pity, but that’s really a personal preference, anyway.
Oh, and the booklet is great, with the cover looking much better in the (slightly creepy) flesh.

All in all, a big thumbs up. :D

I have bought myself 2 copies today of the album:D, I like it so far, especially Dopamine is great. Strange how the prices differ: At the first shop the album was 19, 95 euro. I peddled on to another store an there it was 16, 95, so I saved myself 6 euros:P which has been spent on beer while listening!

Dude, that’s a difference of 3 Euros. :p

Anyway, I had a listen on my lunch break after Play.com kindly delivered it this morning. Played it in the car on the way back to work.

I’m really liking the overall sound of the album, but I’m gonna sit down just now and have a proper listen.

I’ll get back to you.

You know what I think? Ithink the new booklet doesn’t thank the fans in it! :mad:Well screw them, we did all the hard work, they just sat there and wrote and made the thing. Who do they think they are? The band?! *chucks OCFA in bin and storms off in a huff*
*sneaks back in and reclaims OCFA* ;)
(Though the back at the very bottom it does say ‘it’s all made special for you.’ Which I like to think is addressed to me. Personally.)

I have had it on repeat for the last few days and playing it on the old ipod helps get you into it more…I am more of a fan of the raw and nasty albums they make. BUt this is fantastic, even the two or three songs that i thought were the weaker do redeem themselves by having a amazing part in them so they may grow on me more. It’s a nice natural album i found HA to be a bit forced, the chorus lyrics in general could have more work done on them..but fuck it i’m still loving it:D:D

Ok, I’ve listened to it properly about 1 and half times so far. I’m loving every single song on the album. Each has it’s own little quirk which makes them really great. They’re also very catchy, especially SDA.

I think the mix is also really good, Andy’s guitar is loud when it needs to be, but can also blend in well too. Michael’s bass lines are brilliant. If T? weren’t a three piece, we’d miss out on hearing the bass lines so clearly when Andy isn’t playing. Being a drummer, I’ve been listening closely to Neil’s beats, and they make me smile each time. I’m especially liking the use of the bass drum, and of course, the famous T? snare work. The use of the ride cymbal in this album is something I enjoy too.

The only weak song for me is Heart Beat Hits, but then I’ve only heard it once so far…

I’m sure I’ll find something else to talk about, once I listen to it, over and over and over and over…

Haha, yes it would. You should have seen the amount of spelling errors there was before I posted that. I missed that one though.

what i didnt like to NANE was the bad vocals from andy,he was like he was yelling or something, very clear, without effects.i think his vocals with effects sounds much better!!!!!their sound is more troublegum i think!finally… i also starting liking the private nobody, very strong song!generally there are some very good melodies in this album!very catchy!

Thanks therapy_gr, I wasnt fond of the dirty sound of NANE too much.
Great news that Andy is singing properly again, you;re right he didnt really sing too well on NANE. Yet he didnt sing really on suicide but on that album he had loads of differetn personalities and influences. I’m waiting for the album where he combines all those crazy and wonderful personalitites and mixes it up with great singing. So this album is like Troublegum in it’s no nonsense ideas?

Production is a bit slack though… :D
