The ones I know of are:

Make Yourself Well (Rise Up) — became plain old Rise Up
Atomized — became So Called Life
Walked Through Darkness — obviously became Walk Through Darkness (rehearsed during NANE)
Drug Run — became Not In Any Name
Bonkified — became Alright
Taxi For Me — became Body Bag Girl
Jimmy Tangas — became Tango Romeo
Swine — became Sister
Thunder IA — became Big Cave In
Holly Hunter’s Hands — became Six Mile Water
Again And Again — became Stay Happy
Titanic — became Lonely, Cryin’, Only
More Than Perfect — became Safe
Dark Days Coming — became Heaven’s Gate
Armageddon Checklist — became My Voodoo Doll
Husker Du’y Song — became Lost In The Sunlight — then became Kids Stuff
Kiss Me On A Ghost Train — became Last Blast
New Song 2 / I Like Cock — might have become Black Eye, Purple Sky — Alan knows more about this one

That’s just songs that were renamed or evolved into something else that was released. There’s also a list of song names that were mentioned as being rehearsed for various sessions that haven’t been heard of since…

Good point. So it should be:

Make Yourself Well (Rise Up) — became Rise Up (Make Yourself Well)

which is not really much of a revelation :)

Me? What would I know! :p

btw, also from 1996, ‘New Song in D’ would eventually evolve into ‘Joey’. (this was the song with the lyrics “this is my world”, and was probably considered New Song 1, as it was played on a couple of dates before New Song 2).

I think that was just a communication breakdown, wasn’t it? I don’t think that song was ever known to the band as anything different?

See, I knew you had some interesting fact surrounding one of New Song 1, New Song 2 and I Like Cock…

Aermageddon Checklist is a bit of a heavy song title for a 2 minute blast of pop don’t you think? But you’re right - thats a great songtitle - they should use it somewhere, might even steal it for myself! :)

They recycled it for ‘Hard Work and Hope’: “I sold my soul and now I miss it/It’s on my Armageddon checklist”

You’re right, very cool phrase though!

Wasn’t Armageddon Checklist one of the possible album titles for what became Semi-Detached? (as well as Ice Cream Headache, and … others???)
