Divers mate, dont do it.

I have the ‘ambient’ Devlab record and its just sound… when he says ambient, it just means background noises… no songs, no instruments, no beats… just background noise.

In my opinion, the man is a genius, and I always said Dev would only have to record a fart and I would buy it, well he actually did and I bought it and I shall not make the same mistake again :)

I have the 2CD version of Accelerated Evolution.
The bonus CD is this thing called “Project:ECO”.
More ambient bullshit. Not worth pissing on. Just really boring electronic crap.

I think I put that on once, it sounded like the music from a sega megadrive game so I turned it off if I remember correctly…

Something like that - It is stupid, its got silly voices and its about an Alien coming to earth to sample the perfect cup of coffee… but it also features some really, really fantastic music.

So if you dig the Dev, then yes, its worth it.

But it is slightly less than serious… :D

ok, i have the entire devin townsend collection, apart from punky bruster and heavy as a really heavy thing.

here are my reviews.

ocean machine - ace
infinity - only heard 4 tracks so far, its a definate grower!
physicist - very good, possibly the least essential DB album
terria - awesome, 2nd best
accelerated evolution - amazing
synchestra - near-perfect, its brilliant, his best work.

syl:
city - possibly the heaviest album i own, very good
syl - less heavy, not as good as city, a grower, but so far its excellent
alien - syl’s best work, heavy from start to finish, except track 8
new black - it wouldnt feel out of place on any DB album, i could compare this to physicist, but heavier. ace.

ziltoid - awesome, hilarious, certainly not fetid!!

id like to thank deadsetgav for a fantastic recommendation!!

i havent written it off. its ace, just not as good as the others. material is a class tune.

ive just bought SYL’s heavy as a really heavy thing. its not what i expected, i thought it’d be more in the lines of city,

its kinda like industrial/grindcore, if you know what i mean, i only listened to half the album so far, and so far i think its ace!!!!! goat is a right tune!!!! but, on the sleeve, there is no-one credited for playing the bass, i think theres no bass on it at all.

I don’t think he has done a bad album… i really like the OFFICIAL BOOTLEG album some good acoustic versions of his songs on that as well as a live concert, if you can get hold of Punky Bruster it’s worth it for a laugh:)
