For my opinion that guitar made a huge sound impact…

Why does Andy use that one not anymore..??

Punkwak - you do realise a change in amps and producer will alter the sound considerably ? Im sure Andy used more than one guitar on troublegum too :) but the same amp and production will make it sound pretty similar :)

and if you have seen them playing around you should have seen it was more then 7/10 played with this brilliant guitar..

cos it was his guitar and being a small band would be using all their own stuff, but then as time goes buy and they get endorsements and new instruments to use on stage allowing them to retire the more speical and delicate items.

A good guitar tech will help prolong the life of an instrument, of course but sometimes you just want a new guitar cos it’s nice to have a new one.

Also, it is good for promo photos and that to have new guitars instead of the same ones all the time. Guitars can be used to carry on the theme of a promo campaign, e.g. the Manics using all-white gear during the Lifeblood campaign.

Just a thought.

The black SG your on about was a straight of the production line SG Standard in black - There’s a diary entry somewhere, I think it was on the old site by Martin, anyways he gave the guitar to someone he invited up on stage, they played a few T? riffs etc, I think I remember Martin saying Andy was taken back by this guy and gave him the guitar. Martin then commented on how he’d had his eye on it…

I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure thats what happened to it!
