The English language magazine Ex-Berliner has all the latest club and gig listings; Kreuzberg is the district with good bars, clubs etc.

There are loads of good museums and exhibitions though naturally a lot of them are based around WW2 and the Cold War…the old Stasi prison and the exhibition next to the Holocaust Memorial are two of the best.

well, i’ve kicked the alcohol thing. as in i don’t drink at home alone anymore. i haven’t had a panic attack (i was never sure if that was a wind up or not) for about 8 months. yeah, i’m generally fine.

gives sam a kiss even though he doesn’t like that kind of stuff. x

it’s just another reason for you to abuse me.

Every time I go to Berlin it takes my breath away…

I’ll get my coat.

I cant believe I attempted that… especially as you referenced it in the title of the thread

‘Unter den Linden’ is the main street right in the heart of the city, just near the Brandenburg Gate, its very stately and historic. There’s plenty to see in that area, and quite close by there’s the ‘Schoenviertel’ (hope I’ve spelt that right!) with a lot of ‘bohemian’ bars and cafes. And definitely take a trip up the Fernsehnturm (TV Tower) on Alexanderplatz, you get a great view of the city!

I’ve somehow managed to stop boozing completely…the panic attack was real - physically I was a wreck back then but I’m in OK shape now :)

Spend a week in Berlin during the World Cup and it was ( in one word ) fanfuckintastic !

The TV Tower ( Fernsehturm ) is great indeed.
Revolving restaurant halfway up there.

Where you should definitely go at night is the Oranienburger Strasse area and especially the Tacheles building.
Tacheles is an alternative ‘Kunsthaus’ with in-build bars and cafes and it is really ubercool. Maybe Google it.
The whole area there is great for going out anyway.

Check out what is going on in the Kulturbrauerei as well , loads of gigs and other stuff going on there.
By coincidence I ran into a Leningrad Cowboys gig there last time around.
Kulturbrauerei is in the Prenzlauer Berg area.

Most clubs around Prenzlauer Berg are great , best of all being a place called Zu Mir Oder Zu Dir ( your place or mine… ). Coolest bar in Berlin , with comfy sofas , great DJ and super relaxed staff.

For some pics :

Berlin is pretty cool, but not for driving around with the car, too complicated for me :(

But that TV Tower is indeed great, you get a beautiful view of the entire city and they got delicious chocolate milk up there :D

I remembered something else about Berlin that may be useful…

Round the corner from Potsdamer Platz metro station is a place where you can borrow bikes for free all day (they have an advert on the side). They’re not great bikes but are useful for getting around the city centre…
