Thrash Metal

#

Started by fatboy

I’ve been listening to a lot of 80’s Speed/Thrash metal of the last couple of months. Other than the usual mix of Slayer, early Metallica and all that, I’ve been getting into the cult bands, the ones that should have made it but never did.

Voivod and Celtic Frost had just released new albums and decided to check them out. They’re pretty good, yet i somewhat feel that I’ve missed their best work.

Testament, Death Angel, Possessed, Vio-lence (Robb Flynn of Machine Head’s old band)and Dark Angel have most of their work still out there. But there must loads of other stuff that passed me by from that first wave. Kreator were good yet I can’t find their stuff. Nuclear Assualt were good and so was SOD (members of NA and Anthrax).

What other thrashy stuff is out there.

Metal Church (especially The Human Factor if you can find it)

If you like S.O.D. check out M.O.D. (Surfin’ MOD is quite amusing)

Hell yeah , now we’re talking bands !!!

Still have my original vinyls of most of the bands mentioned above. Onslaught’s “Flame of the Anti-Christ” is legendary , I played that record a zillion times.

One that hasn’t been mentioned yet but HAS to be included in this thread : D.R.I.

Check out Overkill, good old NYC hardcore thrash.

Years of Decay, Horrorscope, Taking Over, and Under the Influence are highly recommended!
