#

Started by Punkwank (Tijn)

In my opinion.. several :D

Lonely cryin..
Hellbelly
nausea
skyward
gone
straight life
my voodoo doll
six mile water
sister
stop it your killing me..
brainsaw
tightrope walker
long distance
tango romeo

Songs who where played a lot years ago are now not even once on there the whole tour.. that’s a pitty.. :o

You can alsmost make such a good setlist with these songs as the current.. :p

I hope for some various songs..
But i also know that you can only play the songs who are practised.. Hope for some special songs in the futere.. :D

cheers

I agree, Punkwak. However, maybe some of those songs don’t really work without Martin.

Tightrope Walker, Sister, Straight Life and Tango Romeo will be a bit weak without a second guitar (and the backing vocals). Six Mile Water might suffer a bit too, I’m not so sure if that’s decisive there though.

Stop It, Hellbelly and Brainsaw have the problem of being on the wrong album. With new albums added to the list all the time, it seems that much harder to add yet another Troublegum song to a set that already has 5 or 6 (Knives, Screamager, Nowhere, Die Laughing, Isolation and Turn all have priority).

Lonely Cryin’ Only and My Voodoo Doll aren’t really liked by the band (or at least not by Andy). Personally I don’t like them either, so I can’t say I mind terribly.

As for Skyward, Nausea and Gone.. well.. I guess the reasons are pretty obvious as well, but I do think they deserve a chance to be in a set here and there. I think Skyward and Gone are beautiful songs.

Lonely Cryin Only I have to say is one of my all time favourite songs!

I’d like to hear:

Don’t Expect Roses
Mama You Can Call The Ambulance Now
Disgracelands
Femtex
This Ones For You
Jude The Obscene
Big Cave In
Other Peoples Misery
Dance
Joey
Stand In Line
Never Ending
Die Like a Motherfucker
Unconsoled
Kid’s Stuff
Pantopon Rose
Suing God
Play on

That would also make for a strange setlist too :)

Yes, but what are the reasons? :p

So, you agree that they are obvious but want to know them? :>

Okay, it’s the standard old-stuff reason. At the most, they’ll play one song besides Potato Junkie and Teethgrinder from the pre-‘gum era. What is the reason for that kind of decision? To the outside world this wasn’t a defining Therapy? time, and I suppose the band has developed so much that it seems much like a nostalgia endeavour more than anything else.

No, I don’t agree that the reasons are obvious. Ok, the pre troublegum era isn’t a big time for Therapy?, but some of their best songs were made before Troublegum!

Dancin with manson, skyward, meat abstract, nausea, disgracelands etc.

And, I’m sure most T? fans that go to the gigs are already familiar with these songs!!

I asked Michael if they would play Dancin with manson at the Belfast gig and he said no, throughout the gig, in between the songs, a lot of people were shouting for Dancin with manson, myself included.

It’s not that long since they played Punishment Kiss, Meat Abstract, Skyward and Dancing with Manson live, and even Loser Cop and Animal Bones and Neck Freak got played not so long ago.
Sadly I haven’t seen most of these live, but seeing them do Punishment Kiss, Manson, and Innocent X, I’ve never gone so nuts at a gig. If they’d just play the whole of Babyteeth for me that would make my life, but it’s not going to happen, obviously.
Everyone has a different fave T? era, so they’re never going to please all the people all the time. If they just keep mixing it up and recognising that they have a huge back catalogue that folks want to hear, that’s all we can ask.
Maybe they should have another fan vote like they did a few years back, that got stuff like A Moment of Clarity and Straight Life back in the set for a while.

I’m not sure if you’re arguing against my point there, Colin, but I’ll say that I also think that there’s a whole heap of great songs from Babyteeth and Nurse.

Sadly, that’s not enough for a takeover in the setlist. Then again, they’ve rather made too much good songs, haven’t they? I propose a 3-4 hour setlist, that way it’s much easier to please everyone. Well everyone except the venues and Therapy? themselves, I imagine. :>

Yes, 3-4 hour setlists are a bit long. However, they could stick with the same setlist for almost every gig, maybe switching 1 or 2 songs…

I was very happy to hear accelerator live.

This is all true, I for one love Hellbelly and Brainsaw more than anything else on troublegum, same with gone and straightlife. It’s too bad really, I don;t think that if they stop playing screamger and knives all the therapy fans will stop buying records and attending gigs.

I just wish they’d completely surprise me on the next tour, and totally mix up the set list.

There is no such thing as a “lost song”. The songs which have been mentioned were no doubt included on the set list either because they were on the latest album on that particular tour or were included to mix it up a bit.

This is a subject which keeps being revived in one form or another and is basically an opportunity for someone to complain that a favourite song of theirs wasn’t played live.

Personally I would like to see a set list with a “representative sample” of material from every album they have done and to a small extent this is what they do.

They cannot play every song live.

I’m not actually sure that this is such a big deal anyway, still it doesn’t stop it coming up time after time.

Every live show they do is always fantastic whatever the set list, remember this!

I understand and agree with many of the points being made here in this thread, but… some will have to realise that theres people who haven’t been and seen the band at all and seeing T? for the first time and to hear Screamager and the likes is infact a rather satisfying experience.

Hey imagine if they opened a set with ‘The Boy’s Asleep’ ;)

I think a lot of you guys would have enjoyed the set they played at the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms a couple of years ago. It was an amazing set list, mostly because they played Dancin With Manson, Punishment Kiss and I think Innocent X as well.

Blew me away!

Oh, and talking about good set openers, they opened with Evil Elvis at one of the Camden Underground gigs. That was fan-fucking-tastic!

When you think about it, T? have a lot stuff in their bag, and it’s impossible for them to play it all. I’d love to hear Gone, Six Mile Water and Innocent X live, but chances are I’ll probably hear them in bootleg form.
