they were nu-metal on their 1st album, by the second one its a mix of the 1st and very melodic material, and the 3rd (their best) is mainly melodic metal, hardly a hint of nu-metal left in them.

as for the fred durst situation let me explain:

taproot sent a demo to fred dursts label ‘flip’ not knowing they were gonna get a response, he took so long to respond so taproot signed for another label, when they signed for them, fred durst left a fiery message on the vocalists answering machine, saying: ‘ur careers gonna go down the drain before it even started, so fuck you!’ taproot ended up BIGGER than limp bizkit, and durst had a little word of praise for taproot, they ended up supporting papa roach and playing at ozzfest. not bad eh?

dudes check out ‘birthday’ it the best taproot song by far!!!!!!

Not so keen on Nu-metal. Deftones are classed as it but I don’t think as em the same :)

Taproot, Mudvayne, Disturbd, Puddle Of Mudd, Limp Bizkit and all the other nu-metal bands. If you read this - suck my ring! Your time came and went in about 2 seconds. If any of you are still making records, time to give up - no-one likes you anymore! :p

No! It’s actually true.
I have a copy of the actual phone message buried away somewhere. Durst comes across like a proper tool. (surprise! surprise!)

I’ll dig it out and load it up here tomorrow. If I can find it!!!…

Whats that old saying? “if fred durst released an album in a forest but no one was around to hear it, would it still make a sound?”

or something like that

Hey Graeme, if Taproot ended up bigger than Limp Bizkit how come nobody knows about them? It’s one thing being a fan but it’s another thing telling lies. You know I really like Anthrax but I cant say they are bigger than Metallica so I fucking dont.
As for Taproot, those pop pussies can go get fucked. They are a product plain and simple. All they did from the beginning was try to do music that would shift units and that is it. They didnt try to be creative or contribute to music at all, they have no integrity. Yes you are right Graeme they probably started out with Nu metal to fit in and be popular (hence the name pop pussies) then they saw that nu metal was dying out so they quickly changed their formula. I have seen many websites ripping their live gigs to shreds saying how they are Korn by numbers.
Fuck Taproot and fuck bubblegum pop and Paris Hilton!

ok matthew, first things 1st.

how the fuck can you compare taproot to pop?! taproot are nowhere near pop, its melodic metal, they are more well known in the states than they are around here, fair enough its ur opinion, but i have to completely disagree with you there mate.

http://www.myspace.com/taproot have another listen, and this time take ur ear plugs out, lol. :D

i think they r bigger than limp bizkit now, not 2001. it was a completely diifferent story.

I think most groups are bigger than fred durst’s lot now but I dont understand how they’ve grown to be bigger or more noticeable. I don’t know if I know anyone who has heard them if I was to mention the name to em.

However, fair play for sticking by ya band :)
