What other boards are you members of?

I like this board, it’s one of the best I’ve visited thus far … good subject matter, good banter … above all in good spirit too. What you’re looking for in a board, really, natch.

Previous experiences of some message boards have not always been all that postive, though.

It’d be bad form to name names, I’m sure ;) … but I’ve found some boards to be incredibly cliquey, and some of the members (especially long-term) astonishingly proprietorial - issuing condescending or smug responses to contributions by anyone new, and putting rather too much effort into one-upmanship and coming across in their postings as “We’re wayyy too cool for you” (No you’re not! You’re boring twats! ) rather than encouraging interesting discussion (perish the thought!) or having a shared laff that isn’t exclusive to the “chosen few” …

All of this (quite apart from being downright irritiating … GROW UP!!!) is completely object-defeating!

Oooh. This is a cranky message, innit? Baaaad day at work. Sorry ;) To put a more positive spin on it, what boards are GOOD, and worth a visit? :)

This is the board I visit most regularly, with nothing else that I frequently post on. There are a few boards that I lurk on sometimes. I agree about what you say about other boards being cliquey and snobbish.
Particularly funny/annoying is how uptight old members can get about doing searches. I know it can be annoying, and more people should do searches for topics, but the responses of some memebers is just comical. They sometimes spend more time criticising the poster for not using the search than it would take to just answer the original question. Hehe, and some sites you type in a search and all you get is a long list of threads with newbies being patronisingly told to do a search! :D Luckily we have Hooch. ;)

I sometimes lurk around the ITV football MB, as it’s rather funny how many plastic fans there are around, Chels seems to be the flavour of the month. I spend way too much time on here, not dissing this board in any way, but if you need a good laugh after a hard day at work (or sometimes at work  ) this is the place.

Now I would like to thank the following for getting me where I am today:

God, Jesus Christ and WoM
my Mum
all the promoters and their staff
and of course my sweet Lord who guides me through the darkness!
Thank you all for this board you will always hold a special place in my heart

This is by far and away the board I visit most, but I do post on the BBC Scottish Football boards sometimes as well as IMDB. Lurk on a few local music boards without posting too…

Forget other boards, just go on the Vent your spleen thread and come back when you feel a bit better :)

Thats scary cause I have just watched the first season of Scrubs on DVD - it was totally unintentional but I appear to have picked up a new word!

I’m a member of the PL board. Can’t say i’m a goth or anything but there ae some moany feckers on there who cut you down if they feel like it. I’m all for takin the piss but sometimes its over the top. I’m headin to the London gig so i’ll be meeting up with some of them. Who did you know on there? What was your username?

I’ve had a few names over the years. Used to get on pretty well with Lizzie (Ember) and met her and Jon and some others (gimmer, bender to name two) at a gig once. Which was cool as Lizzie introduced me to Nick and Greg :) I still check the site regularly but I can’t be arsed posting as there are too many tossers on it. London gig should be good but I can’t really be bothered trecking to London for it. Fair play to PL though, I hope the new label and album sees them get some well-deserved recognition :)

I’v met the same lot over the years, prob meet up with them again at the London gig. If you can muster the strenght you should get on down as the set list will be great as it goes from Gothic to Paradise Lost and its being filmed for DVD. Always wished i was at the Harmony Breaks gig so this should make up for it in some way. Went to see them when they supported Opeth and they played Eternal which was fantastic.

Hopefully the new label will help them reach the masses once more, they deserve it big time.

I’m too fucking lazy to be honest, I’ll just wait for when they tour the next album.

I reckon with a great album and decent promotion they could get back to the glory days of Draconian Times. PL’s age isn’t really an issue - Lamb Of God aren’t spring chickens and they’re doing pretty well. I would also enjoy the opportunity of boring the kids by showing them my PL tattoo and prattling on about the ‘94 Icon tour :)
